[Wanda feels like everyone she's met here in her short tenure on this planet so far -- about four months -- has gone missing (maybe sent back home? who knows?) within days or weeks. It's getting kind of hard to not take it personally. Coupled with her recent experience in which she came back here after experiencing a very personal loss back home, it's putting her that much more on edge.]

Has anyone seen Steve Rogers recently? He wears a lot of red, white, and blue.

[There are also two or three other people she's noticed haven't been around the past couple of days, but she only asks about Steve. That's all she has the energy for. Plus, Steve would probably ask about her if she went missing like this; she should do it for him, too.

That's it, that's the text.]

We managed to dig some of the water purification equipment out of the ship. We should be able to get the river water all non-burny once we get it all working properly. Had to take it to pieces to actually haul it back out.

So that's where the rest of you come in. We need help getting this set up. Especially getting power running to the purifiers.

So this is probably a really stupid question
but
What do dogs eat?
I mean
I know what they eat normally
it's just
Considering
our predicament
& limited resources.

Mammalia aren't exactly my area of expertise.

PS- I got a light to turn on.

So while I take a break after my super fun day getting attacked by some seriously gross looking birdwhatever animals every three minutes while totally failing to find anything worth hunting, here's a thought:

What are the chances that finding nanite canisters in the woods and then the animals getting all mutated is a coincidence? I'd bet probably pretty low. I mean I don't remember any of us going crazy aggressive, but the physical symptoms seem pretty similar, don't you think?

As far as I know we don't have the ability to test for them to be sure and I don't think there really is anything we can do about it if it is, either. (Science people please feel free to correct me, I'd be happy to be wrong!)

But it begs the question of how the nanites got out there to begin with. We should be careful until we figure out the source, because it seems like it's probably got to be something bigger than the couple closed cans we found at that crash site. Maybe? Maybe not, I don't know. But any ideas or if anybody else has spotted them anywhere, speak up and maybe we can figure this out.

They look like this:
[ A brief video clip follows, where she holds up a metal canister in illustration. ]

So, really weird Survivor-style place. When do we start voting people off the island?

Okay, okay. Seriously speaking, though. Any of you need some help with getting fires lit to cook and stuff, I'm your guy. [ He grins, evidently mischievous. Clearly, the whole new world thing hasn't dampened his spirits too much. ]

Ladies, any of you wanna have a warm body right there beside you during those really chilly nights? I'm definitely your guy. [ He snaps his fingers, a flicker of flame glowing bright at the tip before it dies out. ] Gotta tell you, I'm a great cuddler.

[ Waking up in blue goop and being told what to do and where to in a strange place that wasn't her era at all wasn't the best experience for this disoriented soldier. She was struggling to keep her balance and there was already so much to see and do.
Hange thought she was still having a very realistic dream. Her profound thoughts gather in the shower (which was also a very, VERY, cool thing) as she regains a little more consciousness. She doesn't straight up use the funny looking device she was given, but instead decide to explore her surroundings and take in as much as she can— even get acquainted with a few people. Her first initial report is through this fascinating texting feature that she doesn't really understand how to use. Therefore, there are several errors and lack of enthusiasm in her message. Probably for the best for now. ]

this is the most fascinating
one of the most fascinating things i have ever seene and im going to see what happens wh e

[ The text switches to video. There's an eye, and some brown hair— looks like goggles instead of glasses she's wearing. Then, we see her concentrating hard with the tip of her tongue out at the feed before she pulls back, blinking a few times. She looks like she's in her twenties with a long, slender body— hardly any curves at all. Looks like she found her jumpsuit too. Her voice is rather deep, but bursting with an intrigued tone. ]

—Ahhh! Aah-HAH! I think this is working probably. What an interesting trinket! What is inside of it? I was told that I will be able to communicate with others this way and, this is... astounding! I have never seen anything like this before in my life!

I want to tear it apart!

[ Well. That escalated quickly. For somebody first brought on this ship, she seems to be taking things well. ]

[ peter SIGHS on film, comm device set up to show him seated behind a work… desk in an otherwise stripped room, meant to look like it's something no one tries to live in. trying his hardest to look like an awfully grumpy politician or like anything else that just doesn't suit peter (and failing miserably; he looks so begrudgingly distressed it should be comical), nor does his desk fit anything formal. considering it's kind of a mess.

kind of being really. just don’t call his things junk or there’ll be a fight.
]

So. Far as I can tell, people are here like to recruit the new and old for their departments. Not sure why- [ somewhere in the background there’s a snort and what sounds like a muffled comment of “helping hands”. ] but, hey- i'll fill you in on Engineering because why not. Because it seems like the kind of thing we're just supposed to do. And maybe because somebody told me to...

[ a slow glance over his shoulder before he's back at attention. ] First thing? Right now, the place is hotter than... whatever, you can pick your euphemism, just as long as you make it good. And it's not like the kind of hot you look forward to in the middle of winter. It’s the kind of hot that would kill you if you stepped foot into it. And sometimes I start to wonder if Tony's brain took a hit from it before it got so bad and then I remember... that's just what he's always been like. [ peter thinks he's really damn witty sometimes, don't mind him. ]

[ if the fact that there was noise in the background and the fact that peter looked back didn’t clue you in to the fact that someone else was in the room, the fact that tony, fake eye and all pops up just off to the side of peter and moves the device over does for you. ] Peter here is also less amusing than he thinks he is, but you might need to try and tell him he is. Unless you’re Arya, she can shake her head at him. [ and before peter can maybe hit him excuse tony popping right back out of frame. ]

[ leaving peter to sigh exasperatedly. ] Next? The place is huge - more space than you could dream of. And right now? If you even try to look down it, you'll see something different every time- nothing too appealing. It's not as much of a mess as you might think, but you'll see metal blocking the halls or they'll look infinitely longer than they should. It's not always like that, scouts honor. But later on, if you still get lost in the bowels of the beast, it's on you. I mean, unless you leave a trail of scraps behind you, then maybe we'll come looking. Which leads me to my next point: nobody'll tell you to pick up your shit- [ he holds up a finger ] - Unless I trip on it. And then i'll tell you. And it won't be very nice.

[ off screen once again: ] Meaning, he’ll hit you with it, probably. Been a victim of it, and I’m still nursing the bruise. [ and peter’s still rolling his eyes. ]

We could probably use another creative mind or two.. [ the kind of tone where he's trying awfully hard to sound sincere ] .. just to poke at the things the rest of us don't have time to poke it. It'd be just as much tinkering with your own projects as whatever else you want it to be. Try and save the world through engineering and nobody's gonna stop you. If anything, I might try to lend you a hand... if you're good at it. [ he gives a small shrug, skeptical at best. like he doubts anyone's as good as he and tony already are. ] You wanna talk to me about the place in person? Go for it. I'll even give you a tour when we can actually get through again. If you want one.

But you wanna work here? Prove the place isn't gonna get you killed. [ it’s then that tony pops up, right when peter stops talking and shrugs. ] Or you know, you’re not gonna get the rest of us killed.

[ tony stark is this color! ]

[OOC: This is backdates to after she manages to get out of this lovely situation.]

[Pepper knows that as soon as she says what she's about to that Tony is going to get upset. She's set the device to voice so he can hear that she's calm and safe and unharmed. If she doesn't have to she's not planning on explaining that she was attacked by a giant man-wolf in the gardens. That's not really the important thing here and he probably knows that there are those types of things on the ship. It would have been nice if Mr. Jones' welcome letter mentioned those though. Besides, she'll probably see Tony soon enough. She probably could have waited to tell him in person, but she'd honestly rather not have bad/strange/upsetting news every time she sees him.]

There was a situation but I'm alright.

I think, I think it should have manifested. I think Extremis should have gone off, but it didn't. I, I thought you both should know.

[Seriously, she's sort of considering this good news. Maybe she won't blow up after all. It means she's completely vulnerable to any attack, but she's spent the last several years of her life like that. In all honesty, she'll take being overly cautious again over potentially blowing up the entire ship.]

[When the video turns on, the person making the recording is obviously sitting just outside the main doors to Engineering - the feed is swaying a little as he gets situated, and you can see a flash of the hallway, his blue pants and sneakers, and then his right hand, opening and closing repeatedly, the flesh on the back burnt a nice pink color.

There's a hiss, and then the feed fixes on his face - he doesn't look particularly distressed, just a little irritated, serious. After a moment, he lets out a held breath, and fixes that serious expression on the camera.]

Right. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that someone else has already tried going in there.

[He pauses, not a hesitation so much as a moment to think, and he glances down at his hand again - if it's not frozen, it's burnt.]

And probably failed, judging by the way the temperature fluctuations are still happening.

[A pause.]

So I'm asking now. Has the ship told us anything about why this is happening yet?

[Marty is intensely reading up as fast as he can on everything going on, because it looks like the whole ship is buzzing with bits and pieces of broken-up intel. Making it all fit is kind of tough, though. Carolyn gave a chunk, then Edgeworth — Marty's got his coma thing, and then there was this ship-wide snapshot with Matine and Schue... Weird shit, man. Just weird.]

Sooo... Uh.

Like. This VIP chick. Okay, back up, Marty: I had a dream while I was passed out — coma'd out. There was this chick named Malone, and she was talking to this other guy about guarding some prisoner they called a VIP; Very Important Prisoner, you know? Legit what they said, so don't laugh at me on that one. The Malone lady, she was talking about how creepy this VIP was and how she was like talkin' to a wall.

And then they said that she was married to someone. Someone big. Think they said it was a captain; you think maybe the captain? Because that's what they made it sound like to me. Apparently this VIP killed someone super nasty and brutal, too. Manslaughter case.

[He breathes out, but is surprisingly missing a joint this time around. Shocking, I know.]

I wonder where all this crap falls in line. Everyone's talking around here now. We've got this Matine and Schue duo and they're talking about this VIP and how Ward's chillin' on guard patrol, but then they talk about how the captain's all nice with her, no handcuffs on her or anything... sounds like they kinda planned on not letting Manslaughter Lady go to trial. Or whatever.

And then shit goes wild and Matine — what? Flips her lid and shoots a guy 'cus she's hallucinating or something? Am I hearing this all right?

God, I hate this ship sometimes. If you're gonna go sci-fi horror movie on me, at least make it straight-forward.

... Especially if I'm in it.

[please don't kill me first i'm too charming to get shot in the face by pretty women]

((OOC: Marty's actually got a little piece of his intel from a coma dream he had, in case you're wondering what the hell he's blabbing about))

[ this is going to be short.

annabeth doesn't even know why she's doing this at all, because anyone who cares enough will know, but wichita deserves something more than that. she's been here for ages, knew everyone, right?

this video is similar to her last, so long ago. her jaw is set and her eyes are dark, but where there was a storm raging behind them before, there's nothing. an empty look of pain, but not surprise. what more could the ship do, anyway? ]

Wichita's gone.

[ that's all she really wants to say, but the weight of all of wichita's things around her keeps the feed on. annabeth swallows, her eyes moving off to the side for half a moment before they return. ]

I don't know if- [ okay wow, this is a lot harder than she expected it to be. ] She's got a lot of stuff here. Some of it I'm keeping, but if anyone else knew her and wants to come by...

[ she bites her lower lip, before cutting the feed there. they can figure it out. ]

so when i said i was taking some time off, this really wasn't what i had in mind

[two months.

two months since that jump. two months since he tried to burn his bridges and put some distance between the man he'd become on the ship (because of her) and the person he was meant to be (because of them). two months and a whole new set of numbers and no new memories to explain his absence.

he's done his research, once again. he knows just how long has passed since he last scrambled in to his pod for the jump. he knows that the list of losses has grown. (wichita. cobb. even xavier). that the ship has been playing games with the passengers again. that they once again docked with a space station and he wasn't around for any of it.

what he doesn't know is why he's been pulled back again. why the fuck the ship decided it was worth bothering with him. it's not like it was getting anything out of him. right?]

guess the tq can't get enough of me huh
t(-_-t)
stark (the annoying one with a hard on for machines) i know you missed me

[ faith has exactly one concern in all this bullshit: empathy is not so much her gig. ]

So, seems like everybody's all about sharing and caring. And that's cool, whatever gets you off. Play Missed Connections on the Love Boat from hell all night long— have a blast, I don't give a shit.

But just in case anybody else gets any bright ideas about 'maybe we should talk about it'— [ gdi topher— ] maybe nothing, get me? You think you picked my brain, sucks to be you but don't blame me, I didn't sign up for this crap and I don't wanna know about it. I got zero desire to talk about whatever anybody thinks they saw, end of story.

[ because not-terribly-blissful ignorance is better than pity!!! or something. she's emotionally healthy. ]

And just so everybody clear, I'm talking the kind of leave me out of it I'll throw some muscle behind backing up. Keep it zipped and to yourself or I'll break it off, it's nothing I wanna look at.

[ and with the snick of a lighter and a mumbled curse then a long inhale, she's out. ]

We haven't had a jump that exciting in months. Smiley, a puddle of someone outside the medbay and a jump that felt a little different than normal. Almost makes me think that was just the start. I know, Tony, don't do the thing where you ruin the calm, but seriously, we're overdue for it. Personally, I vote for no pirates this time, but that may just be me and the residual annoyance of them.

[ this is so not actually what tony meant to open up with, but it's meant to sort of break the ice a little bit before he moves onto the important question. not to mention, maybe even pressing the issue of feeling weird after the jump was partially important to him. but details.]

Speaking of exciting jumps though. We all know that sometimes you get weird things from home and the like from the lockers on occasion. If you haven't, sucks to be you. [ a beat where tony takes a moment to take a drink of something. ] Show of hands, how many people got something that didn't look like it was from home, or seemed to just hop right over the bad line and into the territory of unpleasantness that may or may of not prompted you to scream what the fuck? Or whatever profanity you're fond of.

Don't be shy, I'll admit it, I found a shin bone in my locker and since I don't moonlight as a surgeon that cuts off limbs, that definitely shouldn't have been there. So, spill, satisfy my curiosity about this.

For those who noticed the incident that triggered the watering system in the garden a few hours ago, I'd like to assure you that it wasn't a ship error or an act of random vandalism, and it wasn't anything to be concerned about. It was an accident and it won't happen again.

[a pause. okay, anakin, your turn to speak. explain the accident]

There was a slight…malfunction while we were testing the repairbikes.

[okay, so perhaps it's more like "they were being idiots and pushed the bikes too hard and managed to hit a tree" but shh.

also, guess who isn't impressed about having to make this post in the first place? damn future masters.]

The rain managed to put out the fire before it spread, but- Look, it wasn't our fault. We fixed them perfectly, but then the controls froze up and it either this or let them fly about and possibly kill someone. At least this way it's just a few trees that got hit.

[because that means they made the right choice, doesn't it? he just glances back across at obi-wan now, leaving him to finish this up. there's a reason the other jedi usually takes the lead in discussions instead of him.]

Either way, we accept full responsibility for our actions, and apologize if we startled or frightened anyone.

[ooc: Blue is Obi-Wan, this refers to this!]

[ for optimal viewing pleasure, please see the following and allow to run in the background as you enjoy this recording. though the only thing currently in the feed is an angled shot of the treetops in the gardens, this is not an accidental video. there's rustling in the background, like something's moving fast through the leaves coming closer, and it is moving.

a couple seconds later, myfanwy comes flying overhead, a small black shape on her back. it might not be terribly difficult to discern what it is, but don't worry if you miss it, because the pteranodon makes a screech and a sharp turn, sending the shape tumbling off her back towards the device.

river rolls over the feed when she hits the ground, dressed in her tq crew uniform with the legs cut into shorts, hair tied up in a messy bun and hands covered with fingerless black gloves that hardly fit her at all. sky-diving experts or anyone with military training might notice her roll is perfectly controlled to minimise damage, and when she comes back into view, her eyes are wide with adrenaline but she doesn't seem particularly bothered by her fall. ]

Test five. Flight successful. Notes: need to meet higher altitude, consider construction of a harness; ask permission first. No hard turns.
