[The video doesn't take long to focus on the woman's face. At most, there are angle adjustments, but it appears asking questions and requesting assistance has boded well for her in regards to this particular set of technology. Her brow remains furrowed until she sees things working the way she was told. With slow ease, she gives a faint smile, her tone serious yet gentle with her French Orlesian accent.]

I thought it best that I thank those who have provided assistance over the past few weeks. I am certain my concerns were not the only questions answered and I appreciate the help provided.

That being said, I thought it best I return the favor. I'm Evangeline de Brassard. While present, I intend to assist with the security here. Although I admit, I am still learning of this place, I do intend to help however I can.

[She pauses although it isn't a very long-lived debate on whether or not to continue.]

I've also heard there are others from Thedas here. I've already spoken with a few of you, but would like to know how many others may be present. I am a templar and I realize that may be a concern to some, but I'd rather you address it with me directly if that should be the case.

[Considering current events as they were, she's well aware Templars and mages aren't exactly in the best standing with the public and since she has no idea who that public may be here, it is better safe than sorry. She'd prefer to get that mess out of the way, if there's any mess to begin with.

There's another short pause and thought but she comes up empty handed. This is enough for now, hopefully.]

Thank you.

[And she'll end things there.]

[OOC: So winging the security part a weeee bit. But assume she's on a patrol soon in some hallway or 'nother, in case anyone wants to Action comment instead of communicator stuff. \o/]

[rikku is lying in her bunk, the comm propped up on some scrap of metal beside her because she's too busy playing with her garment grid to hold it herself. she looks thoughtful, and gently runs the pads of her fingers over the spheres locked into the grid. the five of them, each a different color (lighter shades of red, blue, yellow, etc.), seem to glow with some sort of inner light. it's a very, very faint glow, but it's still there.]

How many of y'all have magic in your worlds? Like, not that hocus pocus "pick a card, let me saw you in half, i've got a dove up my butt" sort of magic. I'm pretty sure almost everywhere has that kind of magic. But I mean real, true magic.

[a beat]

Well I guess "real" is kinda relative, considering how many different kinds of magic there could be, but I think you get the gist. And if you've got magic--is it something everyone can do? Or do they need training or some kinda help to use it?

I'm aware that this is about to sound terribly dramatic, but. [ But she's paused a moment, debating cutting the feed entirely. She's been too reclusive, however, and this is as good a way as any to try and connect to her fellow passengers, isn't it? ]

I've spent my whole life in exodus. It's as if my life is split into chapters, and each one ends with having to flee the place I'd been calling home. Being stuck somewhere isn't something I'm accustomed to.

[ Which brings us to the point: ] How do you all stand it? I'm discovering that I'm terrible at keeping busy without wilderness to go tromping through, noble children to drag home, or a city guard to assist. Does anyone need anything fetched? I might actually be desperate enough to play messenger and courier for someone. I can only do target practice so much before even that gets dull.

[ There's a heavy sigh. Hawke doesn't like this one bit. ]

Which reminds me, I don't suppose there's anyone around here who knows how to make arrows?

( sam appears in general good-cheer, hazel eyes bright and warm while her smile in contrast in wry. she has wanted to avoid addressing anyone, or making herself beholden to anyone who might try to harness her abilities for their own cause, but after the plague?

her opinion has changed just a little. )

Well, that was a harrowing experience, wasn't it? ( oh, the irony of that word. ) Has everyone quite recovered?

I have been thinking. Since it seems that this is not the seaside city in Antiva I'd hoped to retire to, I suppose I should make myself useful around here.

I'm a mage trained in the healing arts, as well as combat. I am also well-versed in herbalism, thievery and other sundry tasks. I am willing to do anything to help except fight. I've been part of a military organization before and found it just not for me, alas.

What would you good people recommend I do?

( her smile fades and she turns serious. )

Also, I have a substance here which I would like to be examined by someone. Either Doctor Milagros or one of her associates are quite welcome to do so.

Hey everyone.

I'm sure some sort of demographics survey has been done in the past but I haven't seen one since I've been here and I'm curious. I've tried to keep it pretty basic. I know people are touchy about their privacy, and I know some aren't cool with being asked about special abilities/skills/powers/whatever, so obviously skip questions if you want to, no hard feelings. I'd rather just get name/age/planet than nothing at all, you know? Not like I'm going to hunt you down and force you to fill it out. But if you're willing to be more complete that'd be awesome and if there's something you think is important that I didn't include a field for, let me know.

Maybe there's a pattern here somewhere, maybe there's not, but at the very least it might be interesting or provide some useful data for department recruitment or something. Maybe you'll find some friends, whatever.

Thanks!

UPDATE: On request from several of our fellow passengers, I'm adding a 'relationship status' field. You're all welcome. Feel free to edit/update your entries accordingly if you want to.

(ooc: feel free to treat this as threadjack city as far as I'm concerned. if you squint it's kind of almost like an ic cr meme?)

[ Though Éowyn has gotten used to the device over the past few months, she still takes a moment to adjust the camera once it is connected, shifting away and tilting his head politely once she has done so. ]

A good day to all. Months have been since I have arrived here, yet this is the first time I address the ship as a whole. So I introduce myself: my name is Éowyn, I hope to find you all well.

[ Now onto the point of her video. ]

I have recently joined the Security team. As such I wish to practice further, so that my skills will not fall into disuse. For this purpose, I seek any and all people who would be interested in sparring with swords. [ A moment before she adds. ] Equally, if anyone who should like to be taught, I will gladly spare what little knowledge I do have.

That said, I also ask if anyone here should be so willing about teaching me about... firearms, I believe that is the term. I have never before heard of them, so I would ask for your patience as I learn.

Thank you all ever so much for your time. [ She smiles briefly, then adds as a last note. ] Oh, La-- I mean, Buffy, I should like to speak to you when you have the time.

[ And with that, she ends the feed. ]

I've noticed a lot of people talking about what they can teach or what they want to learn and that got me thinking. I was pretty distracted in school and I don't really feel like I know what I should know, but at the same time, I don't really know what I don't know.

[Perhaps its telling that he still thinks of what he ought to learn in prescriptive measures that have to do with school-based learning.]

If that made any sense to you, I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me what you think the average person should know. Maybe skills I ought to have or books I should've read?

[ robb and bran both are onscreen for this, grey wind at robb’s side, summer curled at bran’s. this is meant to be something official, and so robb’s drawn up straight, even though his fingers are carding idly into grey wind’s fur. he clears his throat before he speaks, darting a glance at bran then back to the lens. ]

Though my brothers and I have dwelled aboard this ship for quite some time, it was brought to my attention that there are many aboard who have questions about our direwolves, and we’ve been remiss in not answering them more fully. That is why Bran and I have come before you, to speak of our direwolves and assuage any fears passengers new and old may have of them.

[ grey wind gives a short huff, shifting as if to move away and robb pauses, fingers twisting in fur until grey wind stills beneath his hand. bran has been sitting more still through robb’s speech, watching his brother, but as robb falls quiet, he takes up the task of speaking.]

Our direwolves are not pets, but they are of House Stark and they are ours. They mind us, and they will not harm anyone--so long as we are not under threat. They have never attacked anyone aboard this ship, and they never will, unless there is some danger. They are not tame, but they are not wild and savage, either. And they will not hunt any animal aboard this ship, so those who keep pets need not worry. [and here summer flicks an ear, as if he might take argument with that statement, should tempting prey make itself known--but he settles his great head on his paws once more, as bran scratches behind his ear.]

There’s no need to fear them, nor a need to hunt them. The only times they have bared their teeth against anyone was in service of our House, and protection of our family. If you mean them no harm, then you need never worry about their presence, no matter how large and savage they may appear. [ none so large and savage as ghost, but perhaps that’s best not to bring up. ] If you see them in the halls unaccompanied by one of us, continue about your business. They’ll not bother you. [ grey wind’s lip curls back from his teeth and robb makes a hushing noise, expression stern, before he looks at bran. ] Have you anything else we should say?

[bran has tried to look more a lord than a child this whole time, but as he bites at his lip and thinks, he looks slightly more his age. summer rolls his eyes up to consider him, and robb, and grey wind, but does not raise his head.] Only-- that they are safe. And if anyone is uncertain of them, I would gladly let them meet Summer, so they could see for themselves.

Aye, and Grey Wind too. [ robb says to bran, before addressing the lens next. ] If anyone has doubts, you’re welcome to come to any of our House and see for yourself. We would happily accommodate you.

Now that it seems we have all returned from our ventures into the ship, and the lifts are once more working, I feel I should say:

I know that Lady Tyke and Ser Edgeworth have both spoken on venturing into the ship in groups, and that training is to be acquired. I say I will train any that come to me and ask to know survival and tracking - my skills do not involve weapons that many here are familiar with, but can keep one alive. I've been ranging beyond the Wall and into the cold, and I know the trials that can kill a man more surely than a beast such as the ones found aboard.

If you have need of such services, I'll gladly teach what I know. Even if you do not think you will go into the ship, we have seen that sometimes we are given no choice in the matter.

Bilbo Baggins, at your service!

[ That squeak surely must have scratched at your ear, friend! Maybe you've heard it once or twice before ( it's a habit ). Well, it turns out to be sourced to one particular hobbit, the very same Bilbo Baggins peering through the screen. Peering into forever? No, he is looking for his audience, but his words carry on and float. They spin and meet into one smoky ring, puffed through a pipe tangled in his fingers. There is a visible calm patting into the wrinkles of his face, perhaps from earlier stress.

Still, the chirp in his voice smooths out his expression into something friendly. In fact, he is sharing a cheeky smile to his no-face audience, hoping for the same kindness.
]

I am in need of help finding my company. [ He clears his throat, stuck between a tone that is business-like and relaxed. He shouldn't be too relaxed, of course not! ] Dwarves, thirteen in count, but I will gladly send my thanks and offerings to any that may be found. There are two others accounted for, but calling anyone else familiar would most definitely put my concerns and my inner trembling to rest.

[

Yes, the broadcast carries on without any movement, but a few hints of sound. Perhaps someday he will have a proper understanding of the 'on' and 'off' options. Perhaps.

[The video comes on, and the only thing anyone watching can see is a shock of black hair and part of a bright blue eye.

She's had the communicator since her arrival, of course, but it's so far out of her realm of understanding that it took her a while to decide whether she should actually touch it, or if she should just throw it out. Of course, eventually her natural curiosity won out and so she's inspecting it now, obviously unaware that the video is recording. Hawke jostles it again, and more of her face comes into view.]

-box, if there's nothing shiny inside it? [She's either talking to herself, or talking to someone off-camera, who knows?] Unless it's some relic with magical powers. The last one I encountered drove everyone who owned it mad - I think I'll pass on that.
