[Rey is looking significantly different now than most have seen her prior to the jump. For one, her hair is much shorter, almost pixie-ish, but not so much as cut as it has been growing back. While she has an array of new scars, the most notable one right now would be a nasty-looking horizontal gash across her throat that resembles a knife blade.

[Other than that, she looks no more worse for wear than her last public appearance. But she's not really here to talk about her harsher mien.]

"Other people saw it, right? Outside of the pods at the jump?

"Seems that it's been watching us for a long time."

[She looks away briefly, biting the inside of her cheek, and then back to the screen.]

"Whatever is happening to us, this connection we share... Perhaps it's supposed to help us fight it. Not sure how yet, but if it wants us alone and it can't control us to the point where we have it scared, it'd be nice to think that we've been given more of a fighting chance than the old crew ever had." [Hey, she's at least trying to be optimistic here.] "So maybe we should be learning how to control our link, rather than resist it."

['The clock has stopped.' 'It means the path planned for you is gone now.']

[Taking a deep breath, her eyes close. When they reopen, her expression changes. Even her voice is different when she speaks; suddenly hardened by fortitude.]

"Don't know about you, but I say fuck it. I plan on taking my own path."

[Your greeting this month is a soft spoken creepy Japanese girl. Who is being very formal.]

Greetings, my name is Ai Enma and I represent the Support Staff on the ship this month. For any newcomers the ship is called the Tranquility, we do not know why or how you or we are here but the Support Staff is willing to answer any questions you have to the best of our abilities.

You are not dead and this is not Hell. You should also think about getting a room on floors 1 to 10 because they are the only ones patrolled by security. Do not abuse the complaint box and do not go too far into the hallways, there are monsters there.

[The video snaps to life. Ai is in the gardens under a tree, she has...a stack of paper next to her and a few paper cranes on her shoulders. She's getting better at this social thing which is why she's alright with asking.]

If anyone would like to learn origami. I can show you. It's not very hard and you can make animals.

On behalf of the Support Staff of the good-ship Tranquility, I would like to announce the opening of our very own formal Complaint Box, for all of your bitching needs. Whether we can do anything about it or you just want to get something off your chest, fire away.

If you're new and have any questions that aren't covered in the following welcome manual, just ask. Need any help getting yourself situated, that's what we're also here for.

Welcome

You're probably confused. Take some time to read this over. We do our best to keep it up to date, and it should answer most of your questions.

Oh yeah, and one last thing - I'm still offering tours via hovertruck rides through the ship, if that's your thing.

You're also not dead! Welcome to space or something.

[She doesn't like sleeping, she doesn't like needing sleep and she doesn't like what comes with sleep.]

Is there a way to stop yourself from dreaming when you sleep?

This... is kinda not my usual thing to talk about, but since they've been here for a long time and lots of people know them...

I believe both Bran and Arya are gone from Tranquility, as per this jump.

Which reminded me again. For those who've only been here for a little while, but've lost people, there's a memorial wall in the Oxygen gardens. You can... put up names there for people to remember.

For the new arrivals? Sorry the first thing over the network to be like that. It's not all bad or morose or anything! We had Space Christmas last jump, so, really. Not all bad. If you've got questions, people here'll try to answer them as well as we can. If you're looking for stuff to do, departments are usually recruiting, something'll be found!

Oh, also, if you guys see direwolves or a dragon, be careful. They might be missing their people kind of a lot. But they're likely to leave you alone if you don't pester them. I'm not sure they haven't been sent back home as well, but - just in case.

That's it. Robin out.

I have some questions.

Does your world have some version of Hell or a place of punishment after death? How do you end up there? Do you even believe in it? Would you send someone there if the price was going there yourself when you died?

Also would someone be able to show me how to use the holodecks on the ship here? I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.

[Two figures appear on the screen, one is your traditional grim reaper, skeleton, black robe and all that. The other appears to be a perky goth girl. If you’ve seen them before they’re usually together. This time, the one in the black robe starts first and if the voice sounds odd, it’s probably because it’s appearing already heard in your head.]

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO PERFORM A MARRIAGE CEREMONY.

[There is a slight pause as though he remembers to add.]

FOR US.

[And because it always seems to come up.]

Yes. Really. We, uh, aren’t affiliated with any particular religion.

[Or they’re affiliated with all of them. Take your pick, really.]

We just figure this has gone on long enough and we might as well get on with it.

AND IT SEEMS DOUBTFUL THAT ANY OF OUR FAMILY WILL SHOW UP, SO NOW IS AS GOOD A TIME AS ANY WITH THE RELATIVE CALMNESS WE ARE EXPERIENCING.

[Aka: the ship isn’t on fire or filled with mystery plague anymore.]

Hi, everyone.

My name's Richard Rider, I'm of Earth - Terra - twenty first century, and Nova Prime of the Nova Corps, originally of Xandar. And I work for Security here.

Anyway, just wanted to say, since I don't think I've seen anybody talking about it so far. If I'm speaking out of turn, sorry.

One can again enter the unlit corridors away from the inhabited areas of the ship. I say again, though that's not exactly been the case since I showed up here, but anyway.

Those corridors are dangerous. I know I, nor anyone, can actually stop people from going there, [ never mind that Rich is not very fine with the idea of fear controlling one's decisions ] but if you're a recent arrival, please look into the posts made about the recon missions. Look into what happened to Commander Shepard and one member of her team. Talk to people who've been here for a while about it.

Don't go in there blind. Even if you feel you're all alone here, or you're bored out of your mind - your life, and what might happen to you there, does matter. Try to keep as safe as you can.

Thanks for your attention. Nova Prime out.

[Well her stuff is moved and helping with food deliveries isn't very time consuming, so Ai has some down time. A lot of down time. Even more then back home. She's starting to realize how little she has to do without her job. Which is why she finally decides to ask another question. Have a quiet voice from a quiet girl]

I'm not used to having so few duties.

What do people do in their spare time here?

[ This missive is from an early-teen with black hair and black shades, as well as a confident bearing and an easy smirk. ]

Hey, guys and gals! Name's Robin, and I work for the Communications department.

Welcome - as per the circumstances - to Tranquility for the new arrivals! For everyone, I know this place is big, confusing, rage-inducing - because most of us would prefer to be back home - and generally not fun. Not to mention scary and sometimes pretty evil.

So, I've been thinking, and - for reasons I can explain, if anyone's curious - this goes for the crowd of sixteen and under.

Y'all interested in a movie night? I can probably temporarily turn one of the holodecks into big-big screen, and I'm sure we can find a movie or three that sound at least a little interesting, from the whole media library.

What do you say?

[ Yeah. Because the sixteen-and-under crowd is not even a little negligible. ]

Oh, and for those of you who come from places that don't have movies, yet, they're sort of moving pictures with sound which tell stories!

So, that's my offer. Robin out.

Hey everyone.

I'm sure some sort of demographics survey has been done in the past but I haven't seen one since I've been here and I'm curious. I've tried to keep it pretty basic. I know people are touchy about their privacy, and I know some aren't cool with being asked about special abilities/skills/powers/whatever, so obviously skip questions if you want to, no hard feelings. I'd rather just get name/age/planet than nothing at all, you know? Not like I'm going to hunt you down and force you to fill it out. But if you're willing to be more complete that'd be awesome and if there's something you think is important that I didn't include a field for, let me know.

Maybe there's a pattern here somewhere, maybe there's not, but at the very least it might be interesting or provide some useful data for department recruitment or something. Maybe you'll find some friends, whatever.

Thanks!

UPDATE: On request from several of our fellow passengers, I'm adding a 'relationship status' field. You're all welcome. Feel free to edit/update your entries accordingly if you want to.

(ooc: feel free to treat this as threadjack city as far as I'm concerned. if you squint it's kind of almost like an ic cr meme?)

[The video comes on to reveal a normal-looking 15 year old boy, lying on his bed in his quarters on the thirty-third floor. It looks like he was messing around with the smartphone and accidentally started recording. He makes a stupid face or two for the camera, but once he realizes it's actually going out to people he sits up and looks sheepish.]

Uh, hi. So... I wanted to say thanks for the smartphone, I guess. Always wanted one of these. Too bad it comes with a price of "holy crap I'm stuck in space."

[He looks off to the side, worried. Then back to the camera.]

Look, I get that nobody knows why we're here, or how to get home or anything like that. But it sucks, okay? And I can't be the only one who feels like saying that. I mean, I have stuff I need to do back home. [Under his breath, he adds,] And I'm totally gonna get expelled if I miss any more school.

We don't... have to go to school here, right? There isn't some space high school they're gonna drag us to, is there? 'Cause the only thing worse than chess club is space chess club, am I right?

[No one is laughing at your joke, Sam.]

Right. Well, uh. Later!

For those of you who are new -- or, ah, newer -- here... hi. [Awkward pause.] I'm Murphy, and I'm the guy who stocks your food.

After talkin' it over we've made the executive decision to tweak our system a little. After all, I'm only a one-man show, and stockin' kitchens in over thirty decks is gonna run me ragged.

So, from here on out you can get your grub on every fifth deck of the ship startin' from the bottom up. If you can't find what your lookin' for on the current deck you're on, try the next one up. I'll be puttin' up signs for posterity's sake.

[More pause. At first he considers hanging up, and then:]

Also, er... since I guess it's just that kinda month, there's gonna be a second wedding. Mine. And... Anne's.

Completely unplanned, honestly. But if you're not reelin' from the festivities of the last one, it'll be in the garden chapel tomorrow. Because hey, things could go to shit by then, they might not. I'm not tryin' to make light of our situation here, but I've been alive long enough in this place to not take anything for granted. Feel free to come or not.

That's all.

[ooc: Wasn't sure whether to make a log or not... It'll probably be a post-ceremony open log for both Murphy and Anne and anyone else since it's more or less going to be a small event. I'll set one up tomorrow. Edit: Aaand here is that log in question!]

I know bitching doesn't change anything, but I have to say, I am really sick of this place. Especially with all the shit whoever's in charge throws at us. It'd be nice if we could get a vacation from the UUS Deathtrap, but if we ever actually DID get one, we'd probably end up just as fucked as we are on board. Unfortunately, some of us don't have the luxury of hoping we get sent back home.

Which begs the (incredibly personal, I know, so don't feel obligated to answer) question: how many of us on board are dead back home?

[She's been here a lot longer then she thought she would. Clearly whatever is here is more powerful then the Lord of Hell. So since it appears she'll be here for a while longer, it probably wouldn't hurt to learn more about the sort of people she's trapped with. And of course, you'd want to know about the most important topics....]

If you could take revenge on the people who brought you here, would you?

a friend of mine once said that being dead... it was like nothing. there was just darkness on the other side. like if you closed your eyes and could never open them again. so then i thought, maybe this is hell-- but then, i've been to hell-- visited hell, i mean, and no way this is it.

so where are we supposed to be? heaven? 'cause if heaven is supposed to be a bad sci-fi movie, where god's played by alec guinness and E.T is jesus....then that's just weird. too freaking weird, and i'm used to weird.

you guys have probably heard all of this over and over again. newbie falls out of the jelly tube, tries to understand what's going on, and totally gets it wrong. sorry. but since i'm stuck here for the time being, i'd like to make myself useful ... i mean, i can't pilot a ship or fix an engine, but i'm sure i could find a way to help.

okay, totally rambling now

[Cecil is in his room, shuddering, arms wrapped tightly around his body. Is it fear? Is it the cold?

His closet door is open, and there's a bedsheet draped over it -- covering the mirror.

Cecil's fingers press into his sides, pulling at the fabric of his shirt, nearly tearing it. He stares straight ahead, his bright eyes wide; unseeing.]

My mother always said that it would be a mirror.
