A good day to all. Months have been since I have arrived here, yet this is the first time I address the ship as a whole. So I introduce myself: my name is Éowyn, I hope to find you all well.

[ Now onto the point of her video. ]

I have recently joined the Security team. As such I wish to practice further, so that my skills will not fall into disuse. For this purpose, I seek any and all people who would be interested in sparring with swords. [ A moment before she adds. ] Equally, if anyone who should like to be taught, I will gladly spare what little knowledge I do have.

That said, I also ask if anyone here should be so willing about teaching me about... firearms, I believe that is the term. I have never before heard of them, so I would ask for your patience as I learn.

Thank you all ever so much for your time. [ She smiles briefly, then adds as a last note. ] Oh, La-- I mean, Buffy, I should like to speak to you when you have the time.

[It's been... an odd month. An odd couple months, really. An odd entire time since she'd woken up on board the Tranquility, but that's neither here nor there. What is an issue are the recurring dreams she's been having; her mother, calling out to her, beckoning her, and she's been torn between comfort at feeling her presence again, and a sense of loss and longing. So she's been working to keep herself distracted, and when she catches her name on the network, it's a perfect distraction, ready made.

She remembers Éowyn, from meeting with her in the gardens, and she remembers how different the other woman's home had seemed, just from what she'd been able to tell from their talk. So it makes Buffy smile a little, to see her stepping out here, both looking for help and offering it. If she hadn't already liked the other blonde, she did now. So she pops on her video and answers;]

I wish to ask something of you, but only if you have time at your disposal to waste on me.

[ It is only a request after all, she does not want for her to feel any obligation to accept. ]

I remember you speaking of the martial arts when we first met. They seemed most strange to me at the time, but I have come to see how they can be useful. I was wondering... if perhaps you would teach me some things.

[ That Jaime is picking up his device at all must speak of how desperately fucking bored he must be. That he then goes to use it must mean this situation is particularly dire.

And he uses it carefully, motivated by not wishing to stumble even more than he already has in this new land. It takes him some time to get it to the settings he's been shown and a few more minutes spent before he is confident it will work as he wants it to.

Fortunately, it's hard to do wrong by voice message. ]

I had some valuable help, and with practice it has become easier to use.

[ She does not recognize Jaime's voice, as they only spoke briefly and the one time, months ago. Yet she figures she must know him, because though she did speak her name, she didn't mention Arda in her video. ]

I... apologize, but by voice alone I cannot know who I am speaking with.

I would gladly spar with you. [ a beat. ] And they say I am quite good with firearms.

[ of course, that's the ones he's used to, but the skill will translate once he's gotten used to the changes. ]

I only have one gun with me at the moment, but it's pretty standard. I can teach you the basics, if you'd like.

[ Sam knows that there are people here from all times and places, but it's still a bit odd to hear the term 'sparring with swords'. ]

I can...teach you some regular hand-to-hand sparring too, if you're interested.

I was told there is a gunnery on board, I assume there are more weapons at our disposal there.

But that would be ever so kind of you, my Lord, to a stranger no less. I fear I have nothing to offer in return, but I would accept your help on both things gladly.

[ Judging by her words, she could so easily have inhabited Sherwood Forest with him, though by now, he's well aware that many people on this ship have come from vastly different worlds. Nonetheless, they share an interest in defense, and he's been considering employ with security, as well. ]

I've not yet had much opportunity to learn the sword, and I'd quite like to.

Regretfully, I know little about firearms, as my specialty is the bow and arrow, so I can't offer much guidance in that regard.

That is right, my Lord. I have practiced with a sword for many years now. As long as I managed to lift one from the ground, if I am to be truthful.
