Hayley--

[a pause. okay, so this really sucks. he hadn't asked him about keeping her here. hayley wasn't on the list, and now--]

Hayley Marshall has gone home, which...I guess is a good thing. She had a kid back there, and...

[no, it sucks. and now that means he's down one of the few good things he had left here.]

Whatever. She's gone, and considering it looks like nobody else turned up this jump, she probably won't be back.

I just wanted to make sure her friends here knew. Sorry.

locked to beacon hills crew;

[a lock, and a short delay while he works out what to say here. he isn't sure how well any of this will go down. whether he even can come back, given all that's happened. but he at least has to try.]

...I want to come back.

[it's a quiet admission. it's still difficult, and he doesn't know how he will take this. (he's not fooling himself in to thinking that he can't see this.]

I want to come back, and I know you're just gonna want to lock me up again. But don't make me stay in there. You can't.

[it isn't a statement. isn't anywhere near as certain as it would have once been. instead, it's a request. a plead. he wants to come back, but he can't if it means staying locked up indefinitely.]

Tell me there's a way to make it work. Please.

[After hanging around this long, and mostly lurking (call it panic, call it praying that he'd somehow find Scott, just— around.

It wasn't like he'd even looked that hard or that far, but without Scott around, Liam was always afraid. That he'd lose control somehow, that no one would reign him in this time. All those monsters had been crawling around— but he'd managed to stay clear of most of them, at least physically.

Whether or not a tracker jacker made an appearance in his dreams once in a while— well, no one had to know about that, right?

He really needed something to distract himself.

Even if it was totally lame to admit that he had no idea what to do.]

Hi.

There isn't something like school on this ship right?

I know there's work to do on the ship but all I know how to do is play lacrosse.

[Well. That he'd admit to.]

so joining a department is one of the main things people around here suggest doing
but unless you plan on working 24/7 that leaves a lot of down time for you to fill in
so other than work/sleep/eating/cleaning there's a few options you can take

rec rooms: there's a few different kinds so here goes

fitness- gyms and swimming pools. equipment's already there inc. swimsuits and towels
entertainment- gaming. stuff like pool tables and darts
bars- they all seem pretty well stocked but you're not gonna find anything from home unless it comes in your locker
media library- again, nothing from home that didn't show up for you.
viewing rooms- with huge screens for all your space opera watching needs, apparently (whoever that is, you ever want to close up after you?)
holodecks- gonna have to ask the tech-types to explain that one for you

then there's the clubs people run too. i know fight club is still a thing. no idea if anything else is still running

and in related news, lacrosse
me and a friend used to play here a while back
he's gone now but i guess i kind of miss playing
anyone interested?
i've got a mountain of equipment already so just let me know

[ jax is wearing his sweatshirt, hood tucked up around his neck and ears, wet hair tied up in a bun. he's missing his customary cigarette, though he looks like he could probably do with one as he settles back in the chair at the main gunnery console. his expression is tense, but he flashes a smile for the camera as he begins speaking. ]

So that was an interesting wake up call. Not the way I'd wanna do it, but I figure the longer I stay up here the less picky I get about dropping out of a fucking stasis tube.

[ no, that doesn't get any less weird to say, but jax is working on it. ]

Anyway, anyone who doesn't know, I'm Jax Teller. If you're Gunnery, check in after you towel off. If you wanna be Gunnery, come down and see me. You got another department in mind, speak up, and they'll snatch you up. If you're new and you just got questions, fire away. I don't promise I got all the answers, but I can probably point you in the direction of someone who does.

[ there's a pause, jax balancing the comm on his knee while he punches a few buttons, then settles back. ]

Anyway, anyone who wants to bend an ear about current events, come on by. I got nothing but time.

[ and a healthy distrust of talking about anything important on the network, but a little paranoia is excusable, right? ]

And Ilde, lemme know when you got a minute.

[ and casual disconnect is go. ]

[a couple of months ago and this would've been an anonymous post. he knows that there's the potential of this causing trouble for himself. or even for those who may decide to reply. but things have changed, and his own curiosity has long since gotten the better of him. thus--]

so i've got a question for all you "non-humans" out there
or questions i guess. plural
(and yes i know some of you find that offensive or whatever. but how else am i meant to say it?)

do you hide what you are back in your worlds?
and if you do are you hiding it here too?
why?

I can't say I know very much about space, or how this spaceship works, but I have a few questions.

What does it run on, and who's piloting?

And is there a reason that we can stop by at the nearest planet and get off this thing? Anything has to be better than this, right?

[There's a pause.]

If these are stupid questions, I'd rather you just explain why, and spare me the sarcasm.

everyone here gets warned not to go out in to the hallways
it's part of the welcome package or something
but it doesn't stop everyone from going looking

so how many of you have been out in to the hallways before?
what did you see?
or hear?
how do you know what happened was real?

how do you know any of this is real?

I should probably join a department.

I’ve been on this ship for two and a half years. I’ve seen a lot of very strange things - masks and monsters and illness, not to mention the fact that about half of us suffer from insomnia and one time there was this mist that took over and - and people have died. Important people, like Chase, and people who I didn’t know, like Shale, and you meet people who change who you are and how you see the entire universe.

I'm good at math - better than good, I have a mind for math, I'm designed for it. If you think you're good at math, I promise, I'm better. I'm faster. I do math at a fundamental level of creation. Divine math.

I finally feel like I've woken up, and-

If you're new, you shouldn't hide under beds or behind things or under piles of insecurity because you think you're not cut out for it. We all want to go home. We're all afraid.

We all live here and we try to make the best of things but we all mess up occasionally and-

I need to find a better way to apologize.

Tell me the best way that doesn’t involve flowers or chocolate, please.

where's josh?

[ that's it that's the post. normally, she would make the obvious assumption, but since the jump was like 500% more freaky this time it seems to bear asking. ]

[it's a text message, but not by choice for once. instead, it's by necessity. the idea of trying to talk when he can't really hear himself any more is-- well, it's something he'd like to avoid having to think about too much right now. the message itself is one filled with locks. locks that, thanks to the technology glitches, are next to useless. not that he knows that just yet.]

how many of you are sick right now
how bad

[because waking up ill is never a good thing. not when you're not meant to be able to get sick any more. there's a delay before he finally adds--]

full moon's tomorrow
i think i need to be knocked out this time

[there's no way of knowing whether the room will stay locked or not. or whether anyone else will stay well enough to keep him in check.

and that's it. or at least, that's as far as that message goes. a switch of locks (as useless as it may be) and it's time to do something he knows is a bad idea.]

i don't know if you're watching this thing still or not but
you helped us before even if people don't really see it that way

how do we stop this
please

Does anyone know of a way to contact Smiley?

[ the camera turns on to reveal sally, up close at first but then she props the communicator up on her nightstand and scoots back to sit cross-legged on her new bed. she lifts a hand to push her hair back behind her ear but seems to think better of it (for bite-scar reasons, not that there's any real way to know that), instead opting to press her palms together with her index fingers to her mouth for a half-second while she thinks of quite what to say. ]

Right, so I know everyone's super busy packing their shit and trying not to live in some weird sci-fi ghost town, but you can totally put that down for a second because I'm seriously bored and we're playing a game.

[ okay? okay. ]

Pretty much everyone has some kind of space booze, right? Good, because there's this game back home - it's called Never Have I Ever. For pretty much the 5% of you who haven't actually heard of it? It's... actually pretty stupid, like for frat guys or thirteen-year-olds who found their dad's stash, but just shh, humor me here. Basically, someone starts off like 'Never have I ever blah blah blah'. Never have I ever ~ridden a bike~, never have I ever... I don't know, jumped off a cliff. Anyway, everyone who has done the Never-Have-I-Ever has to take a shot. Or a sip, or a rain-check for when you do have booze, or even just drink juice or something - it doesn't matter, that's not the point.

The point is, there are apparently way more people on this ship than I realized and I know pretty much nobody, and I know I'm not the only one. Apparently solidarity is a thing, so why not actually get to know each other a little? I mean, beyond that whole A/S/L survey that went around - not that it was bad or anything.

And if you roll in just to, I don't know, shit all over the game or something? Then you're a jerk and a loser and you should suck it up and play anyway. Like, what's the worst that can happen? You forget to be an angry douche for like five seconds?

Anyway, let's tear this shit up.

I can start, this one's easy:

Never have I ever voluntarily left the planet Earth.

[ go ahead and start your own 'never have i ever' top-levels, even if you don't reply to hers. c: ]

[When the feed opens, Taylor isn't in the SEC offices. She's in one of the holodecks, recognisable from the walls behind her.]

My name's Tyke, I'm head of Security here. Petrelli's already told you all how thin on the ground the departments are getting, so I won't repeat - you've got any combat or policing experience, you want in the Security department, contact me or Edgeworth for recruitment.

Thing is we're thin on the ground all the way. Thirty-three floors housing approximately two-hundred bodies. We're scattered. It makes us vulnerable. Blind spots for this place to use when it wants to fuck with us.

[Like randomly luring people out into the dark. That had been too easy, even with so many of the contacting other people.]

We're moving to consolidate population before the next jump. Bottom ten floors, more than enough room for everyone. Find an empty room, lock it to your nanites, it's yours. You need a hand moving your shit, my team'll help. This is gonna take the strain off Agriculture's supply runs, our security patrols, and let everyone look out for each other. It'll keep us stronger. Safer.

[She sounds determined, steady about it. This is what they need to do. Should have done months ago, when Jenna had first suggested it. Regrets on that aren't going to help, though, and she looks away, tips her head slightly.]

Meantime, figured some of us might wanna let out some frustrations. [There's a very faint smile in the corner of her mouth, and it fades quickly.] Fight club, Holodeck 3. Same rules as always: no weapons, hand-to-hand only, no abilities unless agreed upon by both fighters. Someone taps out or goes unconscious, fight is over. Spectators welcome.

[[ooc: accompanying mingle/fight log over here! ]]

[[ETA: and a spreadsheet for claiming a new room! You can't unclaim your original room and please be reasonable with how many you take!]]

[ The video was just going to flicker for a few moments before finally settling on a proper image. The image cleared to show a corner of a room. By the look of it, it was properly one of the upper levels that did'nt get many visitors. It looks like someone had made there own version of a nest, one of the mattresses from the bunkers pressed into the corner. There was even some rubbish littered around the place. The owner had clearly made there own private home. The video where it rested as Peter flopped himself down in front of it. His hair longer and possibly more wild since the last time he'd appeared on the video. His shirt was crinkled but more or less clean enough considering how long the last jump was.

Peter stared at the screen for a few moments before speaking.]

...I'm going to need a favor.

[ There was a little sigh at that as Peter reached up and slipped his hand behind his ear.]

And I hate asking for favors.

[ Hey, a new arrival who knows how to use video chat. Scott's got the camera set up on the table and himself more or less centered in the frame when he hits the button to record or broadcast. He lifts a hand and gives a bit of a wave to go with his curl of a friendly smile. ]

Hey. I'm Scott, and I guess some of you know me already? Stiles-- my friend Stiles, some of you probably know him, he told me that I've been here before, umm. But I don't remember. Sorry about that. [ His smile this time is apologetic, and comes with a shrug, shoulders hiked up toward his ears and then dropped. ] So I'm hoping that anybody who remembers me being here, if we were friends or whatever, let me know? Sorry that I don't remember you, but I'm sure we can figure it out. So if you wanna come talk or something, come by whenever or send me a message? My number is, uhh. [ He looks down and reads off his arm. ] zero-three-one dash one ninety. I guess I'm pretty much free whenever.

Oh, if anybody's figured out a way to charge a phone here, let me know? I know I can't call anybody or anything but it's got-- music and games and stuff on it, you know. It'd just be cool to have.

[ He lifts a hand and lets it thunk back onto his bicep, mostly covering the rings of his tattoo. He smiles again, one corner tugged up higher than the other. ]

So yeah, that's all for now. See you around.
