ataraxion | Text; another poll

Hey everyone.

I'm sure some sort of demographics survey has been done in the past but I haven't seen one since I've been here and I'm curious. I've tried to keep it pretty basic. I know people are touchy about their privacy, and I know some aren't cool with being asked about special abilities/skills/powers/whatever, so obviously skip questions if you want to, no hard feelings. I'd rather just get name/age/planet than nothing at all, you know? Not like I'm going to hunt you down and force you to fill it out. But if you're willing to be more complete that'd be awesome and if there's something you think is important that I didn't include a field for, let me know.

Maybe there's a pattern here somewhere, maybe there's not, but at the very least it might be interesting or provide some useful data for department recruitment or something. Maybe you'll find some friends, whatever.

[ Before the Capitol, Peeta would've read into that silence and responded with tact; cautious, concerned. Now, he reads into it all the same, but the response isn't half as careful.

There's a short pause on his end, considering her words, and the next question's direct, tone openly curious. ] How is she?

Well, as of the last time I spoke with her. Thank you for asking.

( again, the vagueness and curtness of her reply leaves a lot wanting. and lays bare the fact that mother and daughter may not be getting along smoothly.

she attempts to smoothly transition from this uncomfortable topic to another. )

Would you take some air in the gardens with me sometime, sir? I confess, it would be pleasant to see you again.

( and ask about his world, or talk about hers. anything, other than her mother. or his friend. )

[ Not a good enough answer to cancel out his curiosity, but after a quiet pause he goes along with the change of topics. ]

Sure. [ Surprisingly light and casual, considering how this conversation started. Another pause, then sounding slightly less certain: ] I'm sorry, too. For not checking in on you.

[ Because that goes both ways. If there's anything that's wearing thin quickly, it's the fact that his focus is so unreliable. Making connections used to be easy. ]

( drat! to be truthful, she hopes that this is the end of the conversation pertaining to her mother. she refuses to complain to others about her personal difficulties. )

Lovely! I look forward to it. ( she softens her voice upon hearing his apology, and keeps it gentle. ) It is quite all right. You have been busy.

( and preoccupied, but she doesn't mention that, as it's obvious. the changes in him have worried her, and she has meant to reconnect somehow. now seems as good a time as any. )
