ataraxion | Text; another poll

Hey everyone.

I'm sure some sort of demographics survey has been done in the past but I haven't seen one since I've been here and I'm curious. I've tried to keep it pretty basic. I know people are touchy about their privacy, and I know some aren't cool with being asked about special abilities/skills/powers/whatever, so obviously skip questions if you want to, no hard feelings. I'd rather just get name/age/planet than nothing at all, you know? Not like I'm going to hunt you down and force you to fill it out. But if you're willing to be more complete that'd be awesome and if there's something you think is important that I didn't include a field for, let me know.

Maybe there's a pattern here somewhere, maybe there's not, but at the very least it might be interesting or provide some useful data for department recruitment or something. Maybe you'll find some friends, whatever.

I can believe that quite easily about you.

It was not exactly the same. Our land is mostly comprised of mountains and water. There is very little land upon which to settle. We are not people of means.

So in the summer, we take our ships and raid other lands.

But your raids were for a purpose, I assume? Not simply to steal and keep everything for yourselves?

There are too many young people and not enough land to go around. We are also not all people of means. Plunder is a very powerful motive for most, and I will not lie about that.

I was fortunate enough to be a farmer for most of my life. I never lacked for land. For me, it was all about discovering new places and having an adventure. But if any of the raiding party tried to [ rape. ] abuse the people native to these lands, they answered to me.

What happens in your land when there are too many people and not enough land for them to live on?

When that happens in our land, the people go hungry, they starve to death. I couldn't always do much about the lack of available land, but my efforts were focused on redistributing the wealth so that those in power didn't have an inordinate amount of money compared to those most in need.

Then my intent when I went raiding was much similar to yours. We believe that we earn whatever spoils are left behind if we are victorious in battle.

The Earl, before my former husband rose to that position- he'd keep it all for himself and only allow us to each take one thing. Which wasn't much. When I left, Ragnar was ensuring that all partook of the spoils.

I don't understand the way many of them think.

Most of the people calling me that were the people I took from, and I don't particularly care whether or not they thought well of me.

I'm glad to hear it. It is a work in progress for me. But I would not mind sharing that pint, if you're still of a mind to.
