Morning, Tranquility, this is Jim Kirk.

Some of you may have heard my name floating around. I'm here to answer questions if any of you still have them.

[but this broadcast has the air of purpose, and he gets down to it pretty quick.]

Those of you that have been around for at least a handful of jumps are going to know what this is about, but for those of you that don't, during our stay on the Tranquility it has come to light that some of our number require more than what humans would consider regular dietary needs. Unfortunately, we haven't yet been able to synthesize all of these needs. Therefore, on behalf of one of that number, I'm asking some of you to come forward to donate to keep this individual from starving to death while on board. I'd like anyone with substantial stamina willing to volunteer to contact me. The procedure will be safe, and medical officers will be present at all times.

[ she'd personally like to know if she should expect more of these. or why (if it's perfectly safe) do they need medical officers to supervise? volunteers with a surplus of stamina; people that can take more than girls like her, like anyone that's normal. she's trying not to judge but the idea that there's not an open description disturbs her. ]

To keep one person or thing, whatever, from starving, you want people to volunteer to feed it. We don't get to see the creature until we're donating and you're being vague about what exactly these needs are.

Regardless of whether or not we're volunteering to do this, you're using us as human blood bags. Or whatever it eats bags. I'm all for making sure that everyone is fed, but using everyone else to help feed someone who doesn't have the decency to ask themselves is just a bit stupid.

As it stands, most people- particularly people that aren't accustomed to alien races or the supernatural- aren't keen on the idea of acting as a source of food. We've had accidents in the past that nearly resulted in death due to fear not only of asking for what's needed, but of the very people who need to get their sustenance this way. We've had people on board who have made a living hunting these people. By doing it this way, we're trying to keep potential panic to a minimum and keep all parties as safe and healthy as possible.

I'm happy to extrapolate for people who are interested in helping. This isn't a binding contract, you can get all the way to medical and change your mind.

[Generally she wouldn't care about trying to make any kind of transmission private, considering all sensitive data she keeps stored squarely in her head, but this whole situation has become steadily more concerning, the more she reads about it, and that shows on her face when she activates the feed]

Theoretically speaking, what's the chance of this procedure ending badly for a donor, and is it really worth keeping one alien alive? I know you've taken precautions, I'm still not really sure the price is worth paying.
