Castiel
14 October 2012 @ 12:08 am
[the first few minutes are spent cycling through the functions of his network device. there's a shot of his feet. now a few keysmashes. oh, it's the sounds of bees buzzing in the background. and another keysmash. and then-

hi, here's a shot of castiel. you may remember him from that time when demons appeared on the ship. or that time when soul-fisting happened. you may notice that this time, he's wearing a pair of white hospital scrubs under that trenchcoat instead of a suit. you may also notice that there's a huge smile on his face as he finally decides it's time to address the network as a whole.

good luck.]

This ship- Sometimes bad things happen here, but for some, this ship is a better place to be than our former homes. You get the opportunity here to meet others that you'd never meet otherwise. People from the past, or the future, or- Well, anywhere.

Did you know that there are people here- People who aren't human. There are people who'd be considered monsters back in the world I come from. But here, they're nice. Just because they're not human, it doesn't mean-

Well, some of them are better than some of the angels I've known before. I shouldn't-

[just a shake of his head, and he turns his attention to the box he's set out on the table in front of him. a moment to pick it up and he holds up a copy of the boardgame Sorry!]

Would anybody like to play? I never got to finish my last game.

[he turns the box then to take a closer look, a frown appearing after a moment.]

...it says two to four players though. But I suppose we could play in teams if there's more than four of us. Sometimes- Sometimes it's better to work with others. It makes it...easier.

Who am I supposed to talk to about helping at the clinic? I'm a nurse, back in Boston.

[ And belatedly, as an almost amused-sounding afterthought... ]

Jenna sent me.

Hello, Tranquility. [ Carolyn looks a little rougher this jump, with a healing gash on her temple and uneven hair. Still, she's giving the camera a slight smile. ] This is Carolyn Fry.

Some of you may recall that Ellen Ripley and I were holding space training classes. I understand people are still recovering from our most recent event, but I'm going to continue with them this month. A recording of the last session and any future sessions can be found in the following link. [ Here. ] If you can't show up for any reason, I'd strongly suggest looking these over.

This session will be held in the shuttle bay, like last time, and focus on using the decontamination chambers, getting in and out of a space suit correctly, and a review on shuttles. This is open to everyone and I highly recommend going if you've never been to space before. Some of us have, and we know what we're doing. If you have any questions now, feel free to ask. If you have any suggestions for things to cover in the future, I'll take those, too.

[ She pauses, then switches gears. ]

On a personal note, I'm looking for someone who can cut my hair. ... Thanks.

[ And the feed switches off. ]

((ooc: Probably not going to put up a log for this session of space training since people are still backtagging the jump and the SH plot, unless a lot of people want me to. Feel free to handwave that your character showed up though!))

Wilee

SON OF A BITCH!

[Surely no one on the Tranquility has motion sickness. If you do, sorry about the view you're getting of a very shaky camera feed of Wilee pedaling as his life depended on it down the halls of the ship, cutting sharp corners like a pro. It's obvious he's scared out of his wits by something. Maybe it's Smiley, finally showing up in person. Maybe it's some space monster that somehow managed to get on the ship. Maybe it's...

...an angry turkey. Well, that explains the fear. That shit is scary. It looks angry as it flaps its wings and chases after Wilee, no matter how fast he pedals. Fuck you, human on a bike. It wants to peck your eyes out.]

WHY ARE YOU CHASING ME? I WILL TURN YOU INTO A SANDWICH, SWEAR TO GOD. I'M TIRED OF SHIT COMING AFTER ME.

[ When it begins, the camera is pointed in the direction of water. Beneath it, you see the newest member of the oxygen gardens swimming around slowly — Cibo's coelacanth. It's old from the looks of it; With scales hanging from it and its color is faded. And it barely fits into the frame at the distance that Cibo seems to be holding the comm device. Basically, it's a huge fish.

Soon enough, the camera turns to show Cibo, who seems pleasantly exhausted. She's normally slept at least once since the jump by this point. But she hasn't and it shows through to her tired voice. ]

If anyone knows how to care for any sort of fish, please respond. I would like to know if there are any special requirements for a creature this size. I am in the oxygen gardens, if you wish to come.

[ She looks off-screen to the water. ]

Also, if you know the name of its species? I've named it Dhomochevsky for now. He was another... friend I had...

[ The sight of the coelacanth seems to have drawn her attention away from the feed. After realizing it's been on for a long minute, she quietly shuts it off. ]

Rasd-Codurersa Diziet Embless Sma da' Marenhide

001

[The camera clicks on. Sma is sitting in her quarters, smiling. She's had some time to get her feet under her and now feels up to introducing herself.]

Hello, Tranquility. [Still amused by the stodginess of the ship name.] It seems like the thing to do is introduce oneself, so—my name's Diziet Sma. A very nice ship you have here, I must say.

I'm something of a veteran of space travel, although my usual bailiwick is diplomacy and arts patronage—and I doubt there's much call for that here. But if there's anything I can do to make myself useful, I'd be glad to help.

[A pause, and then she seems to come to a sort of decision.]

And if there is anyone here who knows what I mean when I refer to the civilisation known as the Culture, I'd like to meet you.

[Because even if it's an enemy, she'd like to know about it. And on the off-chance that another Culture citizen is here, bonus.]
