[ josh is looking a bit too disconcertingly mountain man-ish to pull off video, and he's too interested in not announcing his supernatural status to go for voice. that means anonymous text, though he's slightly reluctant to send it; he's aware this is a very weird and very specific question. ]

Who has experience with witches and shapeshifters? Either or, but if you know anything about an overlap, i.e. magic being used to prevent or prolong a shift, please share with the class.

And just to clarify: magic as in black magic, the kind with corpses and soul trading and other non-refundable mistakes. Mary Poppins need not apply.

Not really. cure would mean that it's forever. this just wrapped that side of him up so that he couldn't access it. if that makes sense.

The permanent fix isn't really a cure anyway; yours wins. But it's not something you can do, I'm guessing?

yeah kinda not. i mean when I say drastic i mean extremely high cost and ive already paid too high a price once before I got here. not looking for a repeat.

I know the feeling. I'm not looking to double down with the shifty magic bets, but maybe knowing more about it will let me track it back to a safer alternative.

If you're talking about when the change goes and all that when you say 'the rules' it's this: tied to the full moon, shift at the fullest point.

maybe an hour or two tops. Some have control, others don't remember.

stronger around the full moon & so some abuse that.

for centuries there's been the rumor of the sun and the moon curse. 1side would break it and win out.

it was supposed to be a big deal w/ritual and then 1 side wouldnt have to deal with their curse.

How fatal is fatal? We used to think our blood was toxic to them, turns out it's a bit more nuanced than that.

our bite has a venom of sorts. the wound gets infected. it spreads. hallucinations. hysteria. the body breaks down until it wants to die.

fatal is fatal. there is only one cure and that is the blood from the original hybrid. and the ritual was his idea or at least the legend of the sun and the moon curse was his idea. it would have broken it for whatever side did the ritual. thats why everyone was looking for it.

which was kind of the point because the curse was really just for one person so that he could be a hybrid again.

Completely. Mostly I'm getting that the ritual probably won't help me.

its alright it happens. the story isnt exactly an easy one to remember the details to. the whole legendary status gets a bit fuzzy when you have to really think about the ridiculous of it.

hybrid as in both vampire and werewolf. he was born a werewolf but his curse hadnt been activated until his first kill as a vampire.

his mother was a witch. she bound the werewolf side of him. the whole sun and moon curse was born from that. he just wanted to undo the spell. get his werewolf side back.

Oh. So I guess I'm more interested in the spell he was trying to undo than the spell he was doing.

And now this is sounding a lot less like home. I wasn't aware werewolf curses had to be "activated".

werewolves where I'm from are born. All the way from the lineage that dates back to the original inhabitants. they were rumored to have longer lives, free from disease. while being born a werewolf doesn't change much - aside from temperament issues - you dont have to worry about it until you activate it.

take another life and youre cursed. doesnt matter if it is an accident or not. once someone dies at your hand, you are subject to it all.

now if your family knows about this they can keep you safe. inform you. if you are abandoned as a baby and your adoptive parents have no clue - they tend to kick you out.

Is this you reciting Werewolf 101, or is this a personal account?

We have purebreds, but I have no idea if they're born. As far as I know werewolves can't actually give birth.

its nothing. the ritual to bind the werewolf side is probably not going to be able to be pulled off here. not unless the lockers can give you the ingredients - plus, if your werewolf isnt the same as ours it might not even be compatible.
