( two ) : text & voice

Is it a normal thing here to talk about:
1. dead people
2. killing people
3. what to do about 1 and 2
4. what to do about 3

Not to get on anyone's case, I get that this is a pretty creepy spaceship, but there's been talk of death penalties and airlocking people, I'm just wondering.

[ The next part comes up a bit after the first, mostly as an addendum. He switches to voice for this one, though. ]

—Does anyone know where I can find a washing machine? Do we even have those? My stuff still smells a bit like the blue goo, it's taking a while to get out of the fabric.

There's this werewolf guy, Josh? Have you met him?

[ get your smug face outta here wolfboy

Josh has some feelings on the 'welcome to the family' comment, plus the... okay, yeah, consulting werewolf is a bad idea. But he's distracted by the next question. ]

Like now now? What, you want me to cold call him and ask for an invite to your full-moon club? [ ... does that also sound like a weird euphemism? He's not even sure. ]

[ Look at you casually using the camping metaphor, Isaac. Josh is so proud. He's totally going to make fetch happen. But about the talking to Derek in between replies, you're earning an irritated look - because really? Now Josh just feels like a cheap bet in one of those 90s rom-coms. But he'll let that go, because he's an adult.

Except then there's the hand holding comment. Wow rude. ]
Yeah, thanks, that's really selfless of you. How soon is soon? [ There's a pause, and when he continues his tone is somber. ] And I can probably give a day's notice. It's... things are a bit different the day before.

[ But back to the Derek thing - he is totally ignoring that at the moment. He doesn't want the guy to think he wants anything to do with this pack business; taking some initiative might give exactly that impression. ]

[ Werewolves and bad decisions, like peas in a pod. The humor in Josh's voice is gone now, replaced by a tired, almost academic tone. If he's going to talk about the wolf, it's going to be clinical. ]

No, nothing planned. Nothing I can't work around. It's probably better to steer clear unless I need help, though - the fewer wolves in one place the better, right?

But it's - nothing physical. Nothing anyone can see. Things just feel a bit more... raw. [ Kind of like a drug high. A drug high that makes you more aware of your surroundings and prone to aggression. It's one of the things that Josh hates about the shift, so he's reluctant to expand on the details. ]

[ Josh stays quiet, because - yeah, that's exactly what it's like, and the idea of this kid having to put up with it all the time? Josh feels like he's no longer in control of his life as is, and that's just three days a month.

His voice is gentler now, sympathetic for once. ]

You said he teaches you control? [ He might be catching on to the point of packs. For wherever Isaac's from, at least. ]

[ Sudden mood adjustments are also a werewolf thing, apparently. Josh is starting to think he's been a bit rash - understatement - in his pre-judging of Isaac. Like he's already pointed out several times, he's just a teenager, and Josh has been treating him like the enemy.

Yeah, he's got a horrible track record with other wolves. But this is a kid, and he seems genuine enough in the belief that he's helping. The others were... a bit less genuine. That doesn't mean he's not going to pre-judge the crap out of Derek, but he can at least try to be civil. ]

I can see how that would be a problem. You said it's just you and him now? From your... [ World still seems a bit funny to say, so he doesn't quite finish the sentence. ]
