[ tony, unlike some people, likes observing individuals first before he says anything. there's nothing like making a fantastic entrance because you know what's going on while other people don't. it makes you look smart. technically tony supposes he doesn't need any help in that department, but it never hurts to be the observer first. right now he's a little annoyed because no one is actually being helpful in the way he wants them to be. everyone has forced his hand into asking a question, just to make sure he's not going end up writing them down wrong on his IDIOTS TRAPPED WITH ME ON THIS SHIP list. and yes, he's going to write it down and no, you cannot see it. ]

Show of hands or text or whatever, how many of you have some sort of specialty back home? Those of you who raised your hand, you should share with class what that is. I'd like to not hear about the things that are completely useless, but I know some of you will tell me then anyway. This is just a general survey question before I ask the real one, because I'm just one of those curious types.

Well, I'm a tall ship, so I have a good knowledge and experience in everything relevant to sailing.
I'm also a schoolship, and I've taught people to sail for... decades. I'm 97.
I also have a good scientific knowledge, but I'm afraid I don't have the one relevant to sailing in space. Only on the sea. Also, I learn very fast and I can use a brain when needed.
This, unfortunately, isn't enough for our crew to find anything useful, and I'm afraid I would tend to agree.

I'm also planning on looking around, even as I'm getting busy helping people here and there. Anyone can join me, and I'm willing to join any groups.

Sailing in space and sailing in water are actually slightly interchangable. A bit more difficult, but if you're...97, you have to have some knowledge of the various types of sailing.

...And you have a brain, so that's a plus.

I'm an engineer. Generally electrical and primarily design, but I have some experience in other fields. I don't know if it lives up to spaceship standards, but if anyone's communicator breaks I can take a look.

I was formerly the logic circuit of the spacecraft Discovery One, so I would like to believe I have some idea of how the automated functions of this ship might work. Once I am learn to sufficiently use my hands, I would like to think that I will be of some assistance when it comes to repairing or modifying some of the technical aspects of the ship.

I am also very interested in exploring, but I haven't been inclined to go on my own.

Unless you understand a lot more about corporate policies and licensing certifications in the 2100's than most people here seem to, my specialties won't make a whole lot of sense. Short story is I've spent most my life flying through space under company contracts.

As to the second, if we aren't all to some degree or another, that'd be the stupid thing. Even if the maps that should have been in the system stay lost indefinitely, it doesn't prevent us from doing the footwork to make our own.
