☩ 008. VIDEO | ACTION
[ Lucrezia is in one of the lounges! Sprawled on one of the sofas, fingers busy turning a pendent of gold in the shape of a sea-horse. There are no poems today, no joyful greetings, something is different. She looks more pensive than anything else but there is a shade of concern there as well as quiet annoyance.
When she speaks, her voice is devoid of any of it. Her eyes still focused on the sea-horse. ]
A riddle, Tranquility.
How to mourn for someone who does not deserve it?
If your duty demands it and you have no desire to - do all men need to be mourned for? Is it a a more grievous sin not to mourn than it is to speak false words of grievance?
[ a beat. ]
Perhaps I must fast again.
[ a moment later she puts down her necklace, smiles. ]
I would have a cup of wine with your answer, if any of you have some to spare. You will join me in the lounge.
[ and it is not a question. ]

action
[He fixes her with a sceptical look over the top of his mug of wine.]
You're the one coercing people into bringing alcohol to you. If any of us are terrible influences, I think that it's you--fortunately, I happen to love terrible influences.
Shall I help you break your fast some more?
action
[ she tries to sound serious but it mostly comes out through a chuckle. ]
Will you bring me a cake?
action
So fond that I will get you your cake. [He sits up again, and sets aside his cup to take up his wand once more.] Only one?
action
action
[He waves his wand, idly, a little like a baton.]
Will that work?
action
[ she shifts in her seat, sips her wine. ]
I would see this -- magic cake.
action
[That's the right answer, and he grins at her before he raises his wand more decisively.]
Accio cakes!
[And he's got specific ones in mind, actually--these horribly wonderful little black-and-white cakes with white cream inside, two in a packet, kept in the cupboards of the kitchens. A man could eat fifty of those in a single sitting. So it's those that he Summons, and--
There's a moment, and then a distant bang, and Sirius smiles.]
We have to wait a bit. It's difficult to do the Summoning charm when there's lifts and things in the way-- [But then there's another loud BANG!, closer this time-- and a moment later, in come the cakes in their packet, whizzing overhead. They fall to the sofa, just beside Lucrezia.]
And there you are.
action
A wonder!
action
[He corrects her cheerfully as he seizes on the packet and tears it open, offering her the first.]
A wonder cake, maybe--a wondrous Sirius, you could say that as well, I wouldn't mind hearing it. D'you want anything else, while I'm fetching things for you?
action
I would simply thank you.
action
Oh, really. And is that how they thank people, where you're from? When can I move there?
action
[ she's not even making this up. ]
And you must never come to Rome! I fear what you would do there. With all the wine and the women who will surrender to your charms and all the long summer dance balls. A terrible idea.
action
[He's on to you, miss, you and your flirty cheek kissing!]
Ooh, yeah, but that all sounds horrible. There's nothing I hate more than wine and women surrendering to me. Do they wear lovely dresses, these women? Are they half as pretty as you?
action
[ hush hush, he likes it. She giggles into her cup/ ]
I am a vain creature, Sirius Black, I would not speak of their beauty but their dresses are divine.
action
[And, expectantly, he turns his other cheek toward her, waiting for that kiss.]
Go on.
action
[ and then she bends again, presses her lips to his cheek again; softer this time, a more affectionate gesture. ]
There. And my debt is paid.
action
And I can die happy. Oh, sweet Lucrezia, you are the best the best the best. I'd write you a poem but I'm crap at poetry, and also I'm dying happily now.
action
How shall I revive you?
action
Another kiss ought to do it.
action
[ why are you humoring her games, Sirius Black. ]
action
[These games are the best games okay. And so he's laying there, collapsed, eyes still closed--but he's definitely smiling now, and he's not so dead that he can't raise his arm, limply, to tap his fingertips against his mouth.]
Incredibly alive.
action
She learned her lessons well, Lucrezia, who sinks to her knees to sprawl herself next to him, bumps her nose against his in what is more of a gesture of affection than anything else. She knows how to press her fingers, soft and fleeting to his jaw, to lower her voice to something softer and more amused. ]
I will never allow you to perish, Sirius Black.
[ half solemn and half a jest but she doesn't think of it too much, presses her lips, soft and full into his. She would not let herself be known as a terrible kisser, especially not when the game demands for a kiss stirring enough as to wake the dead. ]
action
Oh, all right, now she's kissing him.
And she's good, wow, and his eyes jump open at first and then sort of half-close. He's been revived--absolutely not dead any longer--and that's obvious, because he kisses back now, he's not about to just lie here and not kiss back, not when he's got the chance to kiss Lucrezia Borgia.]
action
And Lucrezia Borgia rises to challenges, not shies from them. Whatever game she indulges in, she tries to win. This is another, Lucrezia's lips, soft and playful against his, seeking a victory she already knows she has, after all, she was the one to surprise him. She parts from him with a grin that can only be a bit too cheeky. ]
There, and now you live, Sirius Black.
action
Wow. Finally, he remembers to grin, and he heaves a huge sigh.]
Oh, I am definitely alive. I might die again because I'm so happy, but for now-- I dunno that I've ever been so alive.
