He was being an idiot. Even you have to acknowledge he was being an idiot. He called him a "crackpot." For no reason save that he accepted me as a pupil.

He was being a jerk, don't feel like I'm blaming you. But people can't know they're stomping on sore spots unless you tell them.

And even if I did, I'm not about to go around announcing what they are. That's a sure path to everyone knowing where you are weak, and a sure path to permitting them to exploit it. Even a fool like this would be able to outthink me if I pinpointed every hurt to him. And even you cannot take issue with that sentiment.

So lock the feed and say 'hey-- can you not be so flippant about my mentor? I'd appreciate it'. If he's worth talking to, he'll agree, and if not you have an awesome exit line to hang up on.

[He shakes his head - ]

I shouldn't have to beg respect for so great a man like I'm asking a favor.

I...don't think they've most likely met, no. [A slight, rather shy pause - ] He is here, though. He came in the last jump. So I don't want him having to come across this foolish slander.

Well first of all, I'd love to meet him sometime.

And second-- Miles, nobody here is psychic. Mike's new and stressed and cranky, and you should be the bigger person here. Cut him some slack, be magnanimous.

In any case...I do see what you're saying. But I was trying to help him. There is nothing that can keep someone sane here like having direction, and I was trying to provide that.
