[ He clears his throat. ]

Alistair here. I'm reporting that Shale's body was... irretrievable. [ A small, muttered "I guess". ] The black hole thingie that killed her is still there. So, unless you want to find it yourself, you're going to need a lot of padding and a lot of rope. [ He chuckles, not really that into it, before pausing. ] No, but seriously, don't do that. The black hole will suck you in and you will die.

The gist of it is basically what everybody else has mentioned before. Walking around alone is a bad idea. If the monsters don't get you, the black hole will.

And to everybody else that knew Shale... [ Right. This is the hardest part. But a good king knows how to lie through his teeth. ] She was a good soldier and a good friend. Whether she's by the Maker's side or she returned to The Stone, know that she's in a better place now.

Isaac Clarke

[A gruff, older voice comes out clear on the comms.]

Hello, new members and veteran crewmen alike. This is Isaac Clarke. For those of you I haven't yet introduced myself to - I'm the senior Engineering officer aboard the Tranquility. Engineering's my home, and as a certain someone likes to joke[HAYLEY], it's my home away from home. But that's not what I'm coming on to talk about.

The cause of the death of crewmember Chase Kilgannon. All signs of death, compared with video footage from crewmember Shale's last network post confirm that there are creatures out there, and we've fought them before, while recovering what is now the Science Department. We don't have a name for them, but here's the gist: They're humans with beast DNA mixed in, they're smart, they're insane, and they very much will overpower and try to kill you if they get a chance. They've survived multiple jumps, as to how, we don't really know. [The tone maintains a mix between professionalism and warning. He knows people are still mourning, but revenge definitely isn't the answer.]

If you want to read up on the specific, scientific details, here's a post on all the gruesome facts we have so far.

[ARCHIVED VIDEO FEED ATTACHED: DR. BRUCE BANNER {SCI » 006 » 029}, JUMP SEVEN]

Going after these things unarmed is not advised, going alone - unless you have extensive skills in surviving in these kind of scenarios - even less-so. I know of maybe two or three people equipped to be running around the depths of the ship, and evenn then, these things favor having numbers on their side.

These things will not, I repeat will not attempt to strike at the areas we have already secured and tightened security on. This includes the Bridge, the Engineering Deck, the Oxygen Gardens, Life Support Systems, Crew and Passenger Quarters, Gravity Couches, Armory and Firing Range, Shuttle Bay, Medical, Science Department, and all standard hallways and lifts connecting them. Security has already made comments about their patrols, and the gist of that applies here - if you're outside their patrol range, you are at risk of being attacked and killed. Stick to groups if you go out exploring unless you can show extensive singular survival skills, and absolutely consult Kirk and Spock before heading out - we don't need people running out telling nobody and getting killed, even if you want to help and explore, going alone and without telling anyone solves nothing. You need a firearm, you need a way to take hits, and if you don't have those even thinking of going out is a bad idea.

If you want to help, there are plenty of understaffed departments - Flight Crew, Medical, Engineering - not to broadcast the need for more Engineers, but if you can get your hands dirty, we could use you down here.

For those that need to contact me privately about any details - Engineering based or otherwise - you can reach me at the following address:

That's all I've got for now, Clarke out.

[And with that, the feed is cut.]

Look, I don't really care if you go or don't go looking for whatever it is that killed two people this week.

But if you do, at least leave the door to your rooms open so people can loot your stuff after they find the body.

[Yes, he thinks people are pretty stupid for going out]

I didn't know Chase, but I'm assuming no one was watching her because no one thought of her as a kid?

[Well, no one thought of him as a kid, but then, he had a robo!bodyguard so....]

I'm sorry about the people who cared about her.

Two things:

First off, do you know a guy named Josh Levinson? He mentioned my dad. By name.

Second off, how do you feel about moving to the first floor?

rachel zane is a slow-motion trainwreck
[ The comms turn on and Rachel's face can be seen. She looks calm, confident and put together. Even though, on the inside, she might be anything but. ]

Hi.

[ Rachel doesn't ask for help often - or, at all. So, she's not quite sure how to go about this. ]

I have a few [ how shall she put this ] questions. I'm new and I'm used to being the one who knows everything. [ except how to be modest ] I'm a paralegal [ because she refuses to use past tense ] and I know the ins and outs of the firm I work for. The associates, other paralegals - they all came to me for help. Granted, I've worked there for five years. [ As their best paralegal ever, but the network doesn't... need to know that. There's such thing as some modesty. ] For the first time in a long time I find myself with more questions then answers.

Hopefully, that's where you come in. If you wouldn't mind taking some time to answer a few questions?

First, I haven't been that impressed with the food here. It might be that I'm eating the wrong thing. And I haven't made it down to the oxygen gardens yet. Are their any chefs on board? Or, is there anyone familiar with food? [ a smile. ] Good food?

Second. Is there a way to transfer information from the datapads in the library onto my phone? I've been doing a lot of reading but I've been stuck in the library. There's nothing wrong with it, it's actually quite remarkable but... I'd like the option of reading somewhere else. Maybe the common room or my room.

Third. Things... happened a few days ago. Is there anything I shouldn't be doing? I got the basic rundown from several people my first week here. You can never be too safe, right?

Four. And it's less of a question and more of an apology... For those of you who know Mike Ross, I'm sorry. He's - well, you get used to him. So, if he's done anything to you or said anything to you [ or generally been himself at all ] just, please accept this blanket apology.

[ because she may have spent some time looking up conversations between Mike and people and wow, Mike, you fail at being a human being but why would that be different then in space? and maybe this is sort of flirty and needly - she may not be divulging voice mail details but she's only human. mike ross pushes her buttons. so she's pushing his ]

Okay. I think that's it. Oh, my name is Rachel, for those who haven't met me.

Hello people of Tranquility!!!

First, let me just express my gratitude for the daring rescue y'all executed. That's right. I'm gonna get all mushy here. Brace yourself, it doesn't happen often. I mean, things weren't looking too good back where I came from. I was about to kick it- buy that crappy 'ol farm those people tell you about. Not only did ya take care of all of my injuries, but I got what y'all call a "second chance".

Sure, life's not going to be the same, but I'm a real go-getter. It took me a couple days to actually realize what happened, but that metaphorical fog's lifted. Going to get back on that horse, even if it isn't diamond encrusted like my last one. Sure, still sucks that I won't ever get revenge on those psychopaths that killed my daughter and basically ruined everything I worked for... but I'm alive, aren't I?

See? You know what we got there? That cute, itty bitty little thing? That's a silver lining, kiddos.

Now the question here is.... what to do with this second chance. What to do, what to do....

M
14 January 2013 @ 07:31 pm
[ M is seated at a table in one of the data libraries, her comm propped in front of her so that the video records her from chest upward. She's dressed in one of her suits, neat as a pin, and has a mug from one of the kitchens close at hand. She looks very comfortable addressing an audience she can't see. ]

As it has become apparent that our communications network is in proper working order again, and that I will in fact not be making the trip back to where I should be, I suppose an introduction is in order. I do apologize for my reclusive habits. I'm afraid I am rather of the sort that doesn't socialize.

My name is Maud Astor, and I come from London, in the early twenty-first century. I should very much like to know if there is anyone else here who might be from that general time frame.

I should also like to request further information on exactly what sort of governance exists aboard this ship.
