Guessing everyone's feeling a little closer to compos mentis now. Great, that's gonna make this a whole lot easier.

My name is Nathan Petrelli. I'm Senator for New York, elected representative of the people, and recently made Head of Homeland Security by the President himself. It's my job to do what's in the best interests of the people, and in this case I figure that's gonna be easier said than done.

I don't want any of you to worry. Once I get up to speed on the details of what's going on here, I intend to get to the bottom of how we got here, why we were brought here, and how to go about getting back. And I mean how and why, not the bullshit they've been feeding you about jumping and wormholes and the ship needing a crew. There's a malicious intent here I'm gonna address, and then I'm getting everyone back where we belong.

I realise we're not all Americans here, and maybe you think I have no jurisdiction, but I earned the right to intervene the moment I woke up with a tube shoved down my throat, just like everyone else. I want to speak to people who know the most about this place, or be directed toward them. Captain Kirk: you're on my list for starters, but I'd rather speak to the real Captain, rather than some washed up wannabe.

Oh, and before I wrap this up, there's one other thing. A few of you will have spoken to my brother, Peter; he got here during the 'jump' previous to this one, and as I understand it he's been pretty liberal with his imagination ever since. Some time ago my brother convinced himself that he could fly. He stood on top of a twelve story building one day, called me up and told me he was going to show me he could do it. He jumped, and he fell - fortunately only as far as the fire escape - and a couple days later woke up in the hospital with minor injuries. It wasn't long after my father's death, right in the middle of my run for Congress, and I guess he was desperate for attention.

What I'm trying to say is that he's had brushes with depression before - it runs in the family - and he's not exactly stable right now. All of this doesn't make it any easier. If everyone could please be delicate with him, take what he says with a grain of salt, and inform me if it sounds like he's planning to do something that might hurt himself or others. I appreciate it.

Think i've finally started to figure that one out.

[ Look, Peter will happily be your brother and he'll just deal with the being paralyzed thing as it comes HE'LL GET THROUGH IT. Besides, you remind him of Adam, Erik. Just let him follow you around. ]

Doesn't mean i'm gonna be any less hunted by the government whenever I get to go home, though. [ Paranoia. He has it. ]

You're not the only one. The government is likely to be after myself as well.

[ Paranoid bros forever. ]

Same reasons? [ That's not the question you should be asking, Peter. ]

In a manner of speaking. [ Not the question Peter should be asking, but he gets an answer regardless. ]

Hiding isn't an option when the American Navy successfully fails to kill you with over a hundred missiles.

[ No big deal, just casually mentioning that in the same tone as asking about the weather. ]

[ O-oh. You can't see it, but Peter's eyes are getting pretty damn big. ]

They were trying to kill you? Do something to piss them off?

Yeah. Existing.

[ There's also the manner of Erik lifting a submarine, which apparently made them wet their pants, but it's not his fault okay. Srsly. ]

The concept of using your own powers is something they haven't learned to tolerate.

Same goes for back home.

[ If only Peter knew about the part where the government will try to kidnap a toddler because it has an ability. Then he'd be shitting fifty times as many bricks. ]

Guess we're all a danger, no matter what we do. Government back home's even going so far as to frame people who haven't done anything to hurt anyone, just to make us look worse.

I suppose they never learn. [ He's not talking about their different universes anymore, so much as Erik is making the implication back to WWII. Again. ]

While it's no small comfort here, at least no one's attempted that on this ship.

[ Though knowing some of the people on board, it's just as likely as the next. ]

History's doomed to repeat itself, I guess. [ Sigh. ]

I'm just hoping that the fact that we're not exactly in the minority means nobody's gonna try to, either.

[ But he sounds a little more desperate than he should because he's tired of being of the run. He's tired of not sleeping and getting shot at and the government breaking into his house to drag him away. ]

[ That’s the only comfort they can take in the meantime, that no one’s tried to upset the majority. It was the first thing Erik did learn when he arrived here, after speaking to Kirk and the others, but the unease is still there. Nevermind that they’re in a place where the rules have changed, Erik doesn’t adjust all that easily, though he notes the concern in Peter’s voice regardless. ]

History always does when it comes to humanity. Needless to say, I think we’re well prepared should anything occur.

[ Peter’s been through something similar, Erik’s on the verge of it. If anything happens, they’d be at the forefront of the situation. ]

[ Rules can change, and they obviously have here, but he's just spent the past month on the run. He's gotten increasingly good at being paranoid and not trusting those in positions of authority. But the people he is learning how to trust are others with abilities, and so he gives a nod, even if Erik can't hear it. ]

Yeah, I think so too.
