A riddle? Or a math problem? [ You can practically hear her weighing the options. ]

You'll be good at math problems, since you're an astrophysicist. So I'll give you a riddle.

A wide tin soldier
On guard at his post,
Holding his banner high.

[ Oh, if he could muse he would, but he doesn't. Capa mills over his answer. ]

Not all mailboxes are wide, you know. But that's semantical.

[ The sound of Chase clapping is audible ]

[ Pshaw. ]

The others are probably better. Riddles aren't a strong point. But my sister used to love them, growing up.

[ He mulls over trying to find offer one in response. ]

I don't think I'm any better. Perhaps more knowledgeable in certain fields, but I'm fairly certain our IQs match up.

And... Yeah. I mean, yes, we do. I've never heard it before, but the ship's crew where I'm from tell me about these things.

[ Okay, at that, Capa has to laugh — though it sounds more like a cough, there's no denying what it is. It's obviously meant to be a compliment. It's the strangest compliment he's gotten from a four year old in an eleven year old's body. ]

I can get Corazon to sing it to you sometime. It's— well, it's 'Happy Birthday'.

[ she abruptly changes the subject, clearing her throat. ]

We've yet to actually meet each other, Capa.

[ This abrupt change in topic doesn't seem to phase him. ]

Yes. have you played 3 dimensional chess, Capa? There's another one on board--his name is Spock--he seems quite intelligent himself. He recommended it to me.

[ Capa isn't surprised that Chase has found Spock. He's insanely intelligent while she's extremely bright. It makes sense. ]

No, I've never. But we can change that too. [ A beat. ] Spock and I have exchanged ideas about the ship. He's insightful. We're lucky to have someone like him on board.

What ideas?

[ An information exchange? Without her? Now she's just plain nosy. ]

[ There's a pinch to Capa's voice. Vague, but there if you pay attention. Maybe it's cause he's amused. Or maybe he's implying something. ]
