TEXT | SHERLOCK | CASE OO1

BORED!
Give me work. Give me problems.
My mind rebels against this stagnation.
Give me a puzzle. Or mystery.
Either will do.
Just. Give. Me. Something. To. Solve. Tranquility.
I need the mental stimulation before I result
to drinking the liquid from the grav pouches.

SH.

[ DS;LGHASFL;GKHDF;AL ]

either this is a really elaborate prank or the anomaly that brought us here is a huge fan of science fiction
please say this isn't a prank

[ he just needs a minute here.

to return to his roots.

and geek the hell out.
]

i'm going to take you at your word, since spock down there is probably the actual spock
and completely ignoring the fact that you are, in fact, james tiberius kirk and that is spock and you're both here at the same time
this means that whatever brought us here actually does have pan-dimensional reach or multiverse capabilities -- not to mention it's possible that i'm also part of a fictional universe -- and there's got to be some sort of pattern. somewhere.

i just need to find it.

[ what is his life even ]

[huh, he hadn't considered that. if he was, in fact, fictional somewhere, then there was the possibility that anyone here was fictional. he'd spoken to a John Watson, and Watson was a fictional character. and, in fact, right up there, there's a Sherlock Holmes. and therefore, it was feasible that this was the very pattern they'd been looking for in a group with nothing in common.

oh snap (http://i43.tinypic.com/2yltsf7.jpg).]

[ oh snap is damn right (http://i.imgur.com/8WnCG.gif) ]

sorry, got a bit carried away there. i'm just excited.

but i'd really like to take a look at this data. i'd need to compile it all first, though; get a folder going, find some similarities.

didn't say anything about telling them, did i?
we can definitely keep this between
well, between whoever's seen this.

[ ...

Welp. Now that he knows you're Sherlock Holmes.
]

yep. i haven't looked too hard at the inhabitants of the ship here -- and not all of it's pop culture, btw, but since star trek's so influential it's sort of reached a huge cult status. so a lot of people know who they are.

there are people who can teach you this kind of space + pop culture stuff...

[ AND IT'S VIDEO TIME oh hello, dark curly-haired man who... well, okay then, not an incarnation of Holmes Connor's familiar with (yet), but the texting should have given it away. Modern version? Maybe that BBC thing he'd seen previews for before... this... happened?

Sherlock Holmes just used a computer analogy.

Heh.

Connor's smiling, still terribly enthused with these turn of events, but his expression becomes slightly more contemplative as he begins to explain.
]

Since I know four of five people in this conversation come from fictional sources in my universe, yeah, I'm definitely operating under that assumption. Considering the multiverse theory, it's really not that hard to wrap your head around—especially considering what my team and I have been working with on a daily basis for the past couple of years. [ Which is to say: anomalies in space and time, but he'll get to that later. ] I guess the first thing we'll need to do here is figure out who else has recognized you, Watson, Kirk, or Spock, and if anyone recognizes me. And if I recognize anyone else.

I mean, if there's fictionalized versions of you in universes with fictional characters that I recognize, there's... all sorts of permutations...

[ METACEPTION?!?!? ]

What I'm trying to say is—there's got to be a pattern in here somewhere, but even if this all ends up being totally irrelevant, at least we'll have proved that nearly everything can exist at the same time, in different forms, in all kinds of different universes.

Humanize? [ Oh, right—he'd seen John's post earlier, didn't think much of it other than that's pretty weird. ]

Don't think there is a goal, since it just got incredibly meta from where we're both standing. [ He looks up, thinking. ] And yeah, a lot of people know you, definitely. You're sort of famous. [ He is trading ideas with Sherlock Holmes this is awesome. ]

What we're seeing here is... [ pauses, gathers his thoughts ] yep, basically what you said, a convergence of universes which might all be fictional. Not sure on the actually percentages but it's more than half these people who's not heard of where the crew's from. Maybe their jump drive sort of reached out, I suppose, to anyone who was available at the time. Though I'd hate to know what 'available' means, since I don't think any of us planned for this...

What were doing right before you came here?

If I may interject- [ that's as close to manners as he gets. subtle social nuances. riiiiight over his head ]

Perhaps we may more readily identify commonalities if we first examine similarities between the individuals familiar with our fictional identities.

[ that's. that's kindof a question. if you squint. ]

Caucasian as well.
We have been identified as characters from a televised program, and by Connor's descriptor, I exist in multiple incarnations.

[ Connor nods. ] Good idea.

Nobody's pointed me out yet, but I don't know if I'm... popular enough, or anything, like you four. Cult status. We know your universes exist as fiction in mine, but I'm not sure if the opposite is true—so you'll probably have to include me in your comparisons.

Who else knows who you are?
