( 005 ) video ✶ they say what you lose only turns into gold is that what this luck's gonna bring
[ admitting she's a vampire hasn't been topping jenna's list of priorities on-ship. she's spent more time as a vampire aboard the tranquility than she did at home-- she still thinks of herself as human, for crying out loud. it doesn't matter if she likes garlic on her pizza and she can still primp in mirrors, and that unless someone accidentally impales her with a large piece of wood she could probably keep her secret longer. there's a line now, and jenna's firmly on the non-human side of it, like it or not.
after todd, there are people who won't care what jenna classifies herself as, people who will be every bit as terrified as she was when klaus used ric's body to threaten her. if klaus had been the only vampire jenna had met before dying-- before he killed her, just to drive the point home-- she might still be just as afraid.
but he wasn't the only one, and jenna can't just say nothing. so she's uncharacteristically anxious before this broadcast, staring at her communicator and changing her mind a million times. finally she sighs and pushes the button, quiet as all the careful speeches she prepared slip out of her head. ]
...Hi. Hey. [ sighing, she lifts a hand to wave awkwardly. ] For those of you who don't already know me, I'm Jenna. And I'm-- [ not human. not human. god, this is ridiculous. ] --stalling. I'll just go for it, like a bandaid.
I'm Jenna, and I'm a vampire. [ her words speed up here, because she's aware nothing here sounds like more than a sincerely nice trip taking hold. ] Here, hold on.
[ reaching out of frame, jenna grabs a small knife stolen from the kitchen-- a fit of paranoia, after katherine's arrival-- and holds it out. she's debated about this part, going back and forth all week. she's not happy with the idea for a multitude of reasons-- but even everyone won't be convinced regardless of what she does on-camera, if she has to somehow prove she's not just screwing around to everyone one by one, she'll go nuts. better a big impression first, and add more personal sides of the story one on one. ] If you're squeamish, you might not want to watch this part.
[ stripping off her hoodie and angling her arm so it's in clear view of the screen, jenna places the knife's tip on her upper arm before turning her head away and looking a little pale. the first score doesn't bring blood to the surface-- vampire strength is nothing when compared to a lifetime of trying to not cut herself when holding knives-- but after a deep breath she pushes harder, wincing as her skin splits under the blade. once the cut is long enough to make her point but not be dramatic, jenna prods at the wound a little, avoiding the sluggish, fat trickles of blood winding around her bicep. ] Sorry about that, it's just the best way I know to prove it. I mean, other than this.
[ all jenna has to do is let herself think about how much that hurt, how unfair this all is-- the ship, that she's dead at all, everything-- for her features to slip into something a lot less run of the mill. the whites of her eyes go red, veins protruding beneath them. she keeps her teeth firmly hidden behind her lips, but the point is hopefully made. her cut is beginning to close, as well, but it's still hard to switch back so jenna lets her hair swing in front of her face for a moment-- when she raises her head, the face on-screen is the one everyone who's met her up until now expects. ]
I don't drink from other people, I've never killed anyone, I really love garlic bread, all a holy water bath would do is make me cleaner, and I never asked for this. Any questions?
[ 'any questions'. yeah, she'd bet. ]

[ SO THERE. ]
I was being facetious-- since you told me to 'carry on' being a vampire.
You are horrible, I started watching TVD cause of you
/QUIETLY PRAYS YOU PICK SOMEBODY(S) UP SO I CAN HOG YOU MORE
[ dear sherlock: jenna loevs you tho. ]
I still breathe, still have a heartbeat and a pulse-- I think they're a little slower, though. I'm colder than I was, but not cold. I can eat and drink normally, I just need blood to survive.
/HOGS YOU gdi i'm suppose to be thesising.
[ MISSING THE POINT ENTIRELY. He frowns, how did he miss the fact that Jenna had a pulse? The fact he didn't check bothers him to no end. ]
How much blood? Where have you been getting it? Inquiring as to what is the recovery rate of your wounds?
/NESTLES WILLINGLY lmao i can pretend to feel bad >.>
[ ...your priorities, dear sir. what are they. ]
I don't know the exact amount, med bay, fast. [ 'fast'. sorry, sherlock, you get trolling instead of direct answers. ]
no subject
So how do you know how much you need to take?
[ Medbay? An interesting
specimenthing on bored and John hadn't informed him? He huffs accordingly. It passes for a moment before the words fast intrigue him. ]Do you want to make it an exact science?
[ I have a riding crop jenna, COME ON. LETS TEST YOUR SUPERNATURAL DURABILITY. ]

[ and honestly she tries not to think overmuch about the whole process. it's like getting a shot-- you busy yourself with small talk or examining the area around you and look everywhere but at the goddamn needle. ]
...Okay, now you explain.
[ because that didn't mean what it sounded like, right? right?
OKAY IT TOTALLY MEANT WHAT IT SOUNDED LIKE jesus, sherlock. buy a girl dinner before proposing kinky medical games. ]
no subject
[ A beat. A look of judgement. ]
What else do I need to explain? Would you like a walk through of the scientific process.
no subject
[ F R Y S Q U I N T. ]
The scientific process usually sounds less like you're inviting me back to your sex dungeon to indulge in a little kinky fun, Sherlock.
no subject
[ Okay that might be an exaggeration. W/E. ]
- Don't be stupid. There's no underground in space.

[ BRIGHTSIDE. ]
Please tell me you don't actually have a sex dungeon.
/editing grammar fails
[ Sorry. JENNA SHERLOCK IS A VIRGIN. Although, that last thing you said intrigues him ]
- Shall we test?
what grammar fail i saw it not
[ BRAIN BLUESCREEN, HANG ON A MO. ] You're a-- oh. Oh!
...Really?
[ testing talk postponed for gawping at the virgin a little. ]
no subject
Can we please - carry on?
no subject
Of course, sorry. [ yes, this will totally be the end of this conversation HAVE YOU MET JENNA. ]
no subject
You have questions.
[ he's not amused and he gets that face all the time from john, jenna. ]

- Pent up?

You know. Itchy? Needy, impatient-- oh, screw this. No delicacy, it's wasted here.
I mean turned on, Sherlock.

Rarely.
[ -this is difficult to describe. ]
The occasional urge but none strong enough for me to consider partaking in the act. To develop the urge seems asinine.

God, rarely? It's all I think about right now, I'm like a sixteen year old boy. [ she waves a hand and explains, because she is making sherlock talk about sex-- might as well be nice and also give him more facts. ] It's a vampire thing, everything's... amped up. More intense. Sex is just part of it.
[ she frowns, thoughtful. ]
So you're asexual, with occasional toes dipped in the pool? Wait, aren't you dating someone? Not to be rude, but... how does that work?
Re: LOCKED - 100000% ENCRYPTED
⎯we haven't.
[ He considers then that Neal may want to and there is a sudden hitch in his voice. ]
Hehasn'tgiven - he hasn't said he'd be interested.
[ It has occurred to him that he's probably missed the ques if Neal's exhibited any. ]
⎯an effect of vampirisim is an increase in libido? Sensory and Emotionally amped, if you will?
LOCKED - 100000% ENCRYPTED
...Oh. I'm sure-- I mean, if he-- I...
[ she flounders helplessly until thank GOD a question, bless you sherlock. ]
Being a vampire apparently makes everything... just more. The way you are in life is the way you are now, only everything's dialed up to eleven. [ beat. ] But yeah, sensations and... needs, hungers, those ratchet up too.

[ Awkward Turtle!Sherlock Holmes. ]
Alright, perhaps your increased libido may be of use. How long before - that becomes a factor usually.
[ Sorry Jenna, you started this with your sex dungeons. ]

THAT AWKWARD MOMENT WHEN ONE OF YOUR CHARACTERS LEERS AT ANOTHERpause. ] Sorry, but he's pretty much model gorgeous and I can't pretend otherwise.[ ...how did this turn into loveline with dr. jenna sommers. how. ]
...That's-- I mean, there's really not a standard. It depends on the couple, what they're both ready for... [ what she's not saying: if she had a guy who looked like that, it would be a factor the minute they met, js. ]
