[ Oh dear. That's rather a grumpy face on the other end of the feed. It's the face of a telepath with a pounding headache - not nearly as bad as he would have imagined, given the circumstances, but still rather bothersome, all the same. There is a great deal of exasperation in his voice as he speaks, as if he's a parent reprimanding an errant child that keeps making the same mistake over and over again. ]

I would like to state for the record that this "jumpsuit" is an absolute travesty. I have no intention of wearing it for extended periods of time- [ the bare shoulders visible in shot should be some indication of this ] -and God knows I am incredibly hopeful that in time it might be possible to find some alternative clothing that isn't nearly as criminal as this. I'm practically offended.

[ A brief pause, another faint wince as the headache throbs. ]

In any case, I suppose it was about time to make proper use of this little device. Good day, fellow captives, I hope you're all as delighted as I am by your existence upon this ship. My name is John Buchanan, but you may call me Oxford instead - it doesn't sound nearly quite as dull. [ He smiles, just a tad, and it's unclear why. Maybe at his little jab at his given name, maybe at something else. ]

Finally, a small request; if anyone has some ibuprofen, I'd be much obliged and indebted if they could perhaps share it before my skull cracks in half.

In any case, wearing them was rather uncomfortable. It's hard to trust something that might have its own agenda.

I don't know if it sounds completely unreasonable. Earlier in Earth's history, there were people who used living animals as fashion accessories, were there not?

My armor also has a self-healing component and a few other traits which could be said to be similar those of a living organism. Although I wouldn't call it alive.

I think there's a different between draping an animal around your neck and wearing living clothing, namely that animals are usually supposed to be alive. Clothes, on the other hand, are not, not by conventional terms. [ Oxford's hardly a stickler for convention, but sometimes he likes to pretend. ]

Convenient, perhaps? As an alternative to "living", that is.

Of course there is. I suppose living clothes have as much right to live as other organisms, but somehow... well, suffice it to say, they had some functions that were uncomfortable for the crew to think about.

It's quite convenient, yes. Saves me the trouble of having to get it repaired.

I'll bet they did. Who on earth thought that clothes were a bit lacking and decided to make them into living organisms? It's preposterous to even think about.

The ship itself was organic. I'm still not clear on why. Although I suppose a mechanical ship would have a harder time using its psychic powers on you to make sure you weren't thinking bad thoughts.

That sounds positively horrific, if I'm entirely honest. There's nothing I'd loathe more than a damned ship listening into my thoughts.

[ A little hypocritical of him, though he likes to think of himself as less nosy on the telepathic front. There's still a lovely thrill from finding things out the traditional way. ]

Much of the crew was surprisingly fine with it. They were fine with a lot of things.

Although in their defense, perhaps they were brainwashed. Or busy worrying about other problems.

You would think that a telepathic ship, of all things, along with living clothing, would be a problem rather high up on someone's priorities. Brainwashing seems fairly likely to me.
