What was it like? [ other than nightmarish. ]

Strange--

--it was beautiful, but...anything we dreamed, would come into being. Food, clothing, whatever.

But it sometimes became a mess. There were nightmares that came alive, attacking.

City of Dreams. [ said consideringly, but if what he says is true -- and she has no reason to disbelieve it -- the name makes sense. ]

Yeah. I was there for months...then got sent here.

I have a hunch I'm never going back home.

...maybe. But I'm pretty sure if I do leave this place, I'll just jump to another thing. I doubt there is any going back.

Two from my world--but that's it. Thing is--when I first got here, there was another version of me...the only difference was that he didn't go to Promenade. Which is why I don't think I can go back home.

Because that version of me is already there.

Strange. It was like...it really helped me see how I was, before I got dragged to Promenade. I just tried to help...myself.

A lot less willing to let people in. Trying to act tough as if that would make me tougher, somehow.

That is a common idea. [ showing vulnerability is all too often equated with weakness, even though it takes strength to be able to admit to vulnerability, too. ]

I guess sometimes it's just easier to deal with that, then letting people in.

Though...guess that isn't something a psychic can do.

I could not tell people.

[ it's not quite the same, but yeah. she can get into people's heads. doesn't mean she has to let them into hers. to a point, she can help it. ]
