[ anderson has come to terms with her presence here in as much as she can. there's a minimum level of information she's gathered from the guide, the network, peoples' minds. accept that which you cannot change, prioritize, move on; those are the principles she's been operating on for the time being.

so she faces the screen now, expression and voice even.
] We’re all from different worlds. I know that there are different justice systems in many of them. [ there’s a brief pause, a swallow. the hall of justice has been her home for a long time, being a judge is what she’s always wanted. the role of judges in her world is important, it’s necessary. she doesn’t want to see their reputation sullied by a comparison, but she wants to know this. ] Tell me about them?

[ ooc; annd a permission post for her too! ]

innocent until proven guilty. usually.
sometimes it's a little more to the point than that.

[ not that he agrees with that last bit all the time. ]

witnesses. collected evidence. presented to a jury of your peers and a judge. they decide.

sometimes they bypass the whole judge and jury. just go straight to execution.
depends on the crime and who gets involved.

gotta say, not sure if that sounds like justice to me.

[ because in clint's world no one can just read someone's mind and know for sure. and the people judging and executing can be just as corrupt as the criminals themselves. ]

a lot of crime where you're from?

On the border planets, we have to settle our disputes ourselves. It usually ends up with a few dead bodies and, if you're lucky, with a bounty collected.

Not that far out. Why do you want to know?

Take care of yourself. Isn't that all there really is anywhere? Or is it different where you're from.

Yeah. That's what there is. You can be a bad guy or the best one that ever lived. If you don't stick around long enough to do anything, it doesn't matter, does it?

That they're bullshit? That they jump to their own conclusions?

[Alex snorts.]

Or maybe that they just want to wipe you out.

Though 'innocent until proven guilty' is what they like to pretend exists.

The government. Who are the ones who decide what the justice system is.

[He'd beg to differ.]
