[ anderson has come to terms with her presence here in as much as she can. there's a minimum level of information she's gathered from the guide, the network, peoples' minds. accept that which you cannot change, prioritize, move on; those are the principles she's been operating on for the time being.
so she faces the screen now, expression and voice even. ] We’re all from different worlds. I know that there are different justice systems in many of them. [ there’s a brief pause, a swallow. the hall of justice has been her home for a long time, being a judge is what she’s always wanted. the role of judges in her world is important, it’s necessary. she doesn’t want to see their reputation sullied by a comparison, but she wants to know this. ] Tell me about them?
[ ooc; annd a permission post for her too! ]

Not a good place to be any more, I imagine. Definitely no American dream any more?
voice »
No.
[ it isn't a good place to be, but it's all that anderson has known — and there's still good in her world, too. ]

[ a pause. ] I always did like it more than most people. Believe in it too.
How is it there, if you don't mind me asking?

[ how does she put her entire world into a few words? ] The radiation destroyed a lot of things.
[ like her parents' lives. ]

[ he pauses. ] Tends to be the idea behind radiation. Destroys everything and apparently even the good parts.
I apologize for asking, by the way, it's just a little interesting from my perspective. Kind of like you and justice.

If I wasn't willing to answer questions, I shouldn't be asking any on the network. [ so she doesn't — mind, precisely. not that it's pleasant, but it isn't as though she knows anything else. ]

Still, couldn't have known I'd go right for that one. Or that anyone would. I happen to work in the justice system I described back at home. It's not perfect, but it does the job as well as it can. Given the circumstances it deals with sometimes.

[ and she's — not jealous, really, but it does sting a little to know that others are working in the field she'd wanted to work in and can't because she's failed. she doesn't regret any of her actions at peach trees, but fact is that she's lost her primary weapon and thus picked up an automatic fail. she doesn't need to be a telepath to know that, as she'd told dredd. it's a little more difficult to shake that off than it is not to be bothered by the questions. ] What kind of work do you do?

[ because peter won't press a that answer. if you say you're alright and you're not bleeding somehow, he'll take it at face value. ]
High end crimes. We call them white collar crimes. Have to do with money, large amounts, usually. But that's not the only side of it. Most of the time it's not as violent as blue collar ones, but I won't lie, some of them are mean shots.

If there are resources to prosecute those crimes, they should be prosecuted.

And they're mostly out of mine when they start to involve lawyers.

[ one of the reasons judges in her world act as judge, jury and executioner (and investigators and lawyers, if one is technical about it) is that there is no time and there are no resources to do anything else. ]

[ generally speaking, the bureaucracy of thing bothers peter on a good day, but it is what it is. and he believes in justice and if the system is a little broken, then just try and fix it a little. ]
