If you were a superhero, what would you want your power be? And would you tell anyone about it?

I used to read a lot of comic books.

[And by 'used to' he really means right before he came here.]

I guess I've just always liked superheroes. They have powers, gifts, things that make them special. But there's always pain too. They lose people that they love, or they have to hide their true identity. Their lives are never perfect.

Maybe I should've started by asking if you would WANT to be a superhero.

And I dunno. It's a burden. You got all the shit in normal life, plus you have to deal with the burden of powers. Whether you help or hurt.

There's plenty of shit either way. I think being able to help people would make it worth it.

It isn't really everything it's cut out to be.

Not to mention the other problem with it--that having a power doesn't make you a superanything; that's it's all about who you are, and how you use it. If you use it. Some of the people around here are more the supervillain type, and some of them aren't either.

Well, I don't think the superhero life's for me, but I'll admit running ridiculously fast and flying would be really cool.

And in the X-Men films, wasn't there a girl who could walk through walls? That'd be fun, too, if you could, you know, turn it off.

I can't say that being labeled as a hero is enjoyable, especially when you're only doing your job. Mostly, it's.. stressful. It's a burden. So I guess my answer is.. no? I don't think I'd want to be a superhero at all. I only ever really wanted to be a pilot, though, so maybe my dreams are just a little dull.

Gifts are like that. They're called gifts but sometimes they get hard. and confusing and you can't tell anyone about them because if you do they might hurt you or try and use your gift and sometimes you just want to shout it out to the world - !

I think that's one of the things I like about them. Their life didn't seem much better than mine, but they were still able to help people and do important things.

I know it sounds cliche, but I can't help but like the idea of being able to get away just whenever.
Guess it wouldn't help much when you're in SPACE.

Used to read a lot of comic books, too - my son would've loved them, I'm sure. Don't think I'd ever want to BE a superhero, though.
