[ Judging by the flash of furniture and kneecaps, Carolyn is crouching down next to her bed when she turns the video on. She's smiling today, but there's more than happiness there: there's wonder, awe, and a bit of surprise. ]

Spot had her kittens, [ she breathes, then turns the camera and carefully slides it under the furniture to get as much of an image as she can until the momma cat hisses at her. ]



I'm not sure how many there are yet. They're so small...

[ Her voice trails off, and Carolyn seems to realize that she's being overly sentimental about a bunch of kittens and shakes herself, standing. The motion seems to smooth her back into something harder, even if it's slightly ruined by her quick glance back toward the bed. ]

I didn't arrive on the ship with cats. Their original owners left, and they stayed behind. It may be a good idea for everyone to come up with a contingency plan for their possessions, in case they return home or something happens to them. This is especially true for animals, but if there's something that you'd especially like certain people to have, it could help guarantee that it gets to them.

I have a cat from home. She arrived a few jumps ago and I'd be worried if she got left here should I go back.

Jones -- he's the father of this litter -- has been left here twice now. If I hadn't gone looking for his owner, he wouldn't have made it. It's... not something I would have wanted to explain, if she ever came back.

[ But she did she can't stop smiling because she helped with this (sort of), she was there and she took care of Spot and Jones and the kittens are all alive and so is Spot and for the first time in a long time, the thing surrounding her is life and not death. ]

Well, both parents are ship cats. [ She sounds pleased about that. ]

No. I know a few people who've offered to take one, and others are asking. Two is already a bit much for me to handle when it comes to cats.

Not during the jump, no. Spot was behaving oddly right after the jump, though, so she was close.

[He's not in the room with Konoe when he answers, thank goodness. Otherwise they'd be crowding around one device to admire the kittens and maybe getting a little too invested because kittens.

Still, he's curious and more than a little awed, though he's not tearing up like a certain other cat-guy. He brings the device closer, narrows his eyes, though he's certainly not critical of what he's seeing.]

I think so. One of the doctors is going to look at them, but neither of us know as much about cats as we'd like in this situation.
