[It's a rare video post from Edgeworth. He looks tired, but he seems less depressed than he did a few hours ago; he's focusing on his anger to carry him through.]

Security has a certain amount of the ship secured. These areas are the ones we patrol, the ones you're all accustomed to: the passenger quarters, the oxygen gardens, the medical bay, et cetera. The areas in which you reside. If you stay within those boundaries, we try to keep you safe to the fullest of our abilities; though our manpower is limited, we will do what we can.

If you stray, then we can do nothing. As I said, our manpower is limited, and beyond where we have secured, it is essentially enemy territory. So all of you, no matter how impressed you are with your survival skills and abilities, needs to treat it like enemy territory. It isn't a place to have a walk. It isn't a place to go out and search for monsters so that you can get your fun cracking a few heads. It isn't a research lab. It is a place fraught with danger, and if you go out there, you run the risk of death.

So if you go out, then you will treat it like it is enemy territory. You will not go out alone. You will not go out unarmed. You will not go out without notifying security. If you fail to do any of these things, then you should damn well compose your suicide note to your friends on-board, because you're very likely going to die. And while security isn't ever going to leave anyone to die, you can't treat this ship like an amusement park and expect to live to see the next jump.

[And he glares at the camera a moment longer - and then he glances off to the side, his lips relaxing very slightly.]

Not well. Shale not at all. [A pause - ] Did you?

[ then perhaps it's a good thing. he isn't certain. there's anger certainly, he's always been apalled at injustice. ]

[ his voice is drawn then, and instead of sounding sad it just sounds tired. ]
She protected me, once. I still haven't repaid her for it. Chase, a little. Wise she was but..she was only a child.

[Not that Jon hasn't gone ranging, but. You know. He's a ranger, it's different, or something.]

...Yes. She was. And it's why...One cannot hold it against her that she went, as she was indeed only a child. But one must regret that she felt as though she had to.

It seems to me like it should indeed be common sense. Everyone knows the danger out there. It is simply my hope that this will have demonstrated that even the most powerful among us are not immune to it.

[There's a moment where Edgeworth just sort of puzzles over that. He wishes Mike had used voice or video or something, because he can't really make out the tone. Sarcastic? Upset? Is he feeling hurt, or is he being callous?]

It is upsetting, without question. I must say, however, that better that the death was captured than she died without any evidence being left behind. We'd never have found her body were it not for the broadcast.

Perhaps it was not even because she was a child, but because she felt that she had something to contribute..in some small way. A dear friend told me as much. That things work in ways we might not forsee..but I find it hard to find reason in this.

Shale's body is being recovered, if it is possible to do so. Chase has...Her remains have also been retrieved.

I was thinking the same. So that people know the boundaries, and know they cross them at their own risk. Yet it might create some false sense of security as well - I prefer that people be vigilant when they're aware they're so much as approaching the outer limits of what we have settled.
