[If it sounds like he's rattling off meeting notes… it's because that's exactly what he's doing. Sort of. He doesn't keep to the script too well. But the last time he did the PSA for the Gardens he was a dick, apparently, and not being a dick is important (apparently), so this time he's written it all out beforehand. Hey, he tried.]

Couple-a things about the Gardens.

One: If you want something specific from 'em, place an order here.

As soon as we have it, we can take it up to the specified passenger deck. Saves you time, saves us a huge goddamn headache when we go for somethin' and it's not there. There's also a sheet by the Garden entrance, so use it. Especially if ya want potatoes. [GLaDOS.]

Two: If you pick your own stuff, fill out that form too. Inventory.

Three: If y'don't want to deal with us and want your own plot, we got a section for that. Or you can grow it on the upper levels if you like dirt. Not our fault if somethin' happens to it, though. [A pause.] Not our fault if somethin' happens to it anyway. We're not security.

Four: Tell us if you throw your animal in here, before you throw your animal in here. It ain't a farm. We're not petsitters, either.

Five: Don't smoke near the chemicals. Or the filtration systems. Or the scrubbers. An' if you smoke filtered cigarettes, don't leave the butts on the ground.

Six: There's a few of us workin' down here. If you have questions, ask.

[There's just a bit of amusement on his face that can't be seen here. Mostly at that. Assholes comment. Was he admitting his roughness... Ah but he saw the gardens earlier and they were nice. He figured Holland would be fond of them.]

Are there many job opportunities here? Ah, something to keep busy with, I suppose I am asking...

[Japan, he hears that. Which is why he sounds so unsure about that "yeah" where he normally wouldn't.

But, where he wouldn't bother telling Hong Kong about the other jobs before, he can't help but be up-front with Japan.]

The ship's understaffed everywhere.

I will have to look around to see what sorts of things I could be of help with. It seems there is not much else to do, here.

[Also yeah totally letting that unsure 'yeah' fly by. Proudly shh.]

Holland-san must enjoy his work, though.

There could be. [Which is his veiled way of saying that he has a few hobby-sort of things stowed away.] No reason t'be lazy, though.

[Annnd that's his odd way of saying that he sees where Japan's coming from, anyway. Indulging in hobbies isn't ever as satisfying as being productive.]

There are not any bonsai trees, are there...

[He can dream okay.]

Haven't seen any.

[So maybe he's looked.]

[It might be possible to find out if there's a specific type of tree that would be good to make bonsai from, but... Japan just settles at that for now and saves that for 'hobbies to do later'.]

I see. Ah, forgive me for asking even more questions. I believe that is all I needed to know for now...

[So the rest of that is lost. But in a totally ridiculous bid to further enamor Japan to the Gardens:]

There's a teashop.

[...It works, actually. He can't resist a teashop. Even if he can make it himself in the kitchen which I don't know yet, a teashop is a nice setting.]

Is that so? [A brief pause.] How long is it open?

[handelaar]

[I don't know either but the teashop is nice if you like horses. And free things. Very nice indeed.]

Mm. The guy who runs it is - [Weird as hell. Has a horse.] - ain't always there, but it's free.

[How kind of him, he's thinking. And he's immediately sold.]

I will be sure to stop by. If it is a nice place I would not mind somewhere to visit often. Perhaps Hong Kong would like to come with me sometimes, as well...

Yeah. It's on the second level. Hard to find if y'don't know where it is.

[Japan let him introduce you to the Gardens huffhuff.

But he's not lying. He never outright lies - and finding the teashop is a pain in the ass without a map. The Gardens are enormous and the upper levels are pure jungle.]

Guess he can come too.

If it's truly difficult, would Holland-san mind showing me around first? [He'd like to get to know where it is before offering it to Hong Kong, at least. Hmm.] Ah, I do not mind waiting if work has you busy.

[handelaar]

[Oh man he doesn't mean to snort, really he doesn't. At least it's happy and not derisive.]

I can after. Or on my lunch break.

[Notice that mornings are not an option. Mornings are never an option, he'd lead them off the side of the third level or something.]

[Hey, don't snort at him...!! He's holding back a huff over here. He'll show Holland...]

After is just fine. I would not wish to waste Holland-san's lunch time. Where shall I meet him? Ah, and what time?

[For a while he's going to be amused at everything Japan says that screams Japan just said that. He's not a bit sorry.]

It'd be late. Lunch break might be better.

[Man he works from about 12 or 2 to 8 or midnight, "lunch break" is actually "supper break".]

If that is most convenient, then I can arrange that time to be free... [As if he has important meetings on this spaceship yep.]

No one's gonna harass me about takin' a longer one.

[Honestly, at this point Japan's just glad he can pretend things are fine and Holland doesn't seem to be reacting to anything he's heard, from himself or from Hong Kong. And from what Japan has heard that Hong Kong told him... Ah well. That's just a relief that he can avoid it.

Lunch break it is then... He doesn't like it being implied he'll get lost on his own, but he does like knowing where to go.]

Let's meet then. Could we have tea?

Yeah. It's free.

[From his end, things are fine. He won't react until he hears it from Japan, but even then he'll keep it to himself. If it wasn't him, he's not sure why he should worry over it, and seeing three different Sherlocks interact has assured him that not every universe was created equal.

The here and now is much better for getting lost in, however literal.]

[Japan's actually a little butthurt that Holland hasn't been more concerned for what he's been through. Asking questions...! Even if he understands Holland has always been like this, his ego can be hurt you know?
