He's sitting on the bed and he has the comm resting in his hands on his lap, it's facing him -- even if it's a little off center. His fingers run over the buttons on the device and he clears his throat, ready to speak at the indication that the video is recording.

And yet, the video is upside down. ]

Just a friendly reminder to whoever is in charge that, if you are in fact going to abduct someone from their work and home into outer space -- you might want to reconsider picking a blind man. For one, stars? Completely wasted on me.

[ A slight quirk of his lips up at that. ]

And to... any friendly listeners out there, a brief rundown of this place from someone who isn't a native would be exceptional. I'm sure there's a welcome sign around here but, well, [ He tilts his head just a bit and shrugs lightly. ]

I think that goes for everyone here.

For the most part we're trying to just survive and stay alive while we're here. Around the time I arrived here there was a life threatening illness going around and for the people who went looking for the cure, I heard there was a run in with some monsters of some kind.

Of the fangs, teeth, and fur variety?

[ A tilt of his head. Huh. ]

Also the illness is gone now, right?

Yeah, it's gone. That happened about three jumps ago.

That puts you at being here around the three month mark, right?

Yeah, you're right. It's been about that long for me.

Sheesh, three months is a long time though. You're brave to push through it.

[ A slight frown. ]

You don't by chance know how long this place has been taking people though?

It is, but have people I know from home here so it does make it a bit more manageable.

It seems like ten months is so far, the first number on the tattoo indicates how long it's been, so anyone with zero-zero-one would have been among the first to be brought here.

So like batches. That's-- pretty gross and inhumane, yeah. I'm zero-one-zero so I'm assuming that means tenth which matches up with ten months. Huh.

Definitely. It also helped how friendly most people are here being in the same situation and all.

Yeah, exactly. We get a repeat of that every month unfortunately.

It's slightly alarming but the amount of self-deprecating humor I've encountered does put me at ease.

Anything else special happens during those times aside from the fresh cattle?

Yeah, I know what you mean. It does seem to have that effect.

Nothing much actually, aside from that as far as arriving goes.

What happens to us during these times then?

We have to repeat the process each jump as well.

Unfortunate and possibly a waste of water considering all the showering afterwards... but I can see the logic of it. Some sort of... if we don't we'll end up smeared against the walls like a natural born jelly thing?

Yeah, it would definitely end up something like that if we didn't.
