[ Hello, have your new 010 » 111 pop up on the network. The video turns on to show someone obviously in their room. He's sitting on the bed and he has the comm resting in his hands on his lap, it's facing him -- even if it's a little off center. His fingers run over the buttons on the device and he clears his throat, ready to speak at the indication that the video is recording.

And yet, the video is upside down. ]

Just a friendly reminder to whoever is in charge that, if you are in fact going to abduct someone from their work and home into outer space -- you might want to reconsider picking a blind man. For one, stars? Completely wasted on me.

[ A slight quirk of his lips up at that. ]

And to... any friendly listeners out there, a brief rundown of this place from someone who isn't a native would be exceptional. I'm sure there's a welcome sign around here but, well, [ He tilts his head just a bit and shrugs lightly. ]

I think that covers it. Nice to meet you, I'm sure you're all very pretty.

[ And then he grins and hangs up. ]

[ he reaches over on the bed to hold up a keyboard attachment, obviously for the blind. ]

Can't imagine I can get this here. And yeah, they did -- the comm is even in braille which is relief.

[ That's actually kind of impressive. Good to know whoever brought them here isn't totally neglectful. ]

Well that's... good. Unexpected, but good. They certainly know how to send mixed signals around here. Have you ventured out of your room at all?

Not so much. It took me way too long to even get here so I'm trying to lay low a bit before, well, experimenting.

When you do, I'd advise treading carefully if you get the urge to feel out your surroundings. Apparently "cleaning anything ever" isn't high on a lot of priorities up here. Maybe bring a hand towel for backup.

[ Josh knows, he spent the morning trying to clean the 10th level kitchen. ]

That sounds... horrifically disgusting. On a scale of one to ... the back of a dumpster behind the 7/11 -- how dirty is it?

Maybe a six - it's more of a behind the fridge kind of thing. If it makes you feel any better, I have yet to encounter anything inexplicably sticky.

[ ... inexplicably. He's assuming most of it's related to the blue goo they woke up in. Hopefully. ]

That is both a relief and utterly ridiculous at the same time.

Well, I guess I'll stick to my room here then.

[ Oh, woops. He smiles awkwardly as he tries to make it sound not so bad, and it's obvious in his tone. ]

But hey, really, I'm kind of neurotic when it comes to cleaning. I'm sure it's not actually as bad as I'm making it sound. Just, you know, maybe put a request in for a cane that's easy to clean.

[ He laughs at that. ]

It's fine, really. I mean, it must be sanitary enough for most people here and I'd rather get the neat freak opinion first.

Well, then I'm happy to be of service. Let me know if you ever want the neat freak tour, I'd be happy to oblige. I've heard the hallways are a bit, uh... indecisive here. [ He knows better than to coddle, but he'd feel slightly remiss if he didn't mention the killer hallways to the blind guy. ] Probably wise to adopt a belay system for exploring.

I have heard about the hallways and that is... completely unfortunate, yep. Back home, I haven't moved since I had my accident so spontaneity? Not so much my thing.

Yeah, I can see how that would be a problem. But hey, no need to be a hermit. If you ever need anything, you've got my handy dehumanizing ID tag - don't hesitate to call.
