[Bucky has been doing some reading. Quite a lot of reading, about New York, and how it;s changed over the years he's missed, what's gone on -- well, as much as he can manage. And he has noticed one very important thing, here. He fixes the comm with a very serious look, before asking:]

....So, who do I need to yell at for not tellin' me the Dodgers left Brooklyn? Los Angeles doesn't even have trolleys, why do they need a team called the Dodgers.

[A little mutter:] At least the Mets are around, so we don't have to root for the Yankees.

Apparently a few people haven't. It's mostly an American thing, I guess.

American? Is that where you come from?

Sure is. The United States of America.

I can't say I've heard of it. Do you mind telling me what it's like there?

I'm afraid I'm very curious.

Well, I haven't been back in a couple years, there was a war to fight at home. --And I hear it's changed a lot, now, but.

I'm from a place called Brooklyn, in one of the biggest cities in the country. New York City. It's ..always busy there, or at least that's how I remember it. Always somethin' going on. There are buildings everywhere, some cars, too, and a lot of busses.

So you've also been away from home for some time. I am sorry. It seems many people come from wars here.

Would you mind telling me what a car is?

It's alright, we were fighting for our freedom.

Uh. [He rubs the back of his neck for a moment.] A horseless carriage. Sort of a carriage with a motor on it.

A carriage? Like a horse and cart? That isn't so strange..though that it moves on it's own like that. Surely it must be some sort of magic!

Not magic, just good old-fashioned ingenuity.

I can't say we have any of that in Middle-earth.

No ingenuity, or just no cars?

[he smiles a little ]
No cars, I'm afraid.

Well that's alright, I never really learned how to use one til I went overseas.

For the war? The one you were fighting.

That'd be it, yeah.

I understand. There are..many battles being fought where I'm from. It's quite strange when you've lived in a peaceful place all your days before then.

I guess it must be. I'm not exactly used to that, either, I definitely wouldn't call Brooklyn peaceful.
