[ Jaye's sitting in the Oxygen Gardens, tucked away in a back corner near some grasses. She's wearing a plaid mens shirt that she hasn't worn out in public before, watching a grasshopper that has landed on one of the leather wristbands she got in her locker this past jump. Unlike her previous network experience this month, she looks more subdued; she's been doing a lot of thinking lately. ]

Nobody knows for sure where people go when they disappear from here, do they? I mean, people say "home", but we don't... know.

[ She turns her wrist, watching the grasshopper. ] And we don't know what the fuck anyone's up to without us, either.

[ The insect hops away, out of sight, and Jaye follows it with her eyes for a moment before looking back at her network device. ] ... Right, well. [ She shakes her head, smiling -- anyone who knows her well enough or who is particularly good at reading expressions should be able to tell it's forced. ] I've got some fun questions now. Favorite animal back home and why? Animal you'd consider the most dangerous and why? [ Yes that is somehow a fun question. Danger is fun, right guys? ... Right? ] All you people who aren't from Earth, you should tell me about the animals you guys have. It'd be interesting to hear about the differences.

Mmm, well. [ a little sheepishly: ] I grew up on a farm, when I was very young. Spent a lot of time working with cattle, and I'm afraid the bull there didn't like me very much. It finally lost its patience with me one day, and I was rather fortunate to escape with just a few scrapes.

[ a nostalgic little laugh, since it's almost enough to make him miss home. ] We had two sheepdogs there, too. Terribly friendly, amazingly helpful.

There are plenty of farms that don't even have bulls on them anymore, or so I've heard. I have a feeling stories like that one might be part of why.

What kind of sheepdog? There are a lot.

Aha, well -- it was certainly an experience to remember!

[ another soft laugh before he thinks a bit, gesturing as he tries to explain. ] Mm, I'm afraid I've never been much good with specific names. They were both very fluffy, mostly brown and black and white. Hard workers, and always energetic.

Did you ever go near him again?

[ If she really thought about it, she might be able to come up with the name... but Jaye isn't feeling that motivated, not when Soysauce might just forget it again. So instead- ] What were their names?

I attempted to give it a peace offering once the scrapes it had given me healed up a bit, but it was still quite angry at me. Apparently, a few pieces of apple don't quite make up for years of pent-up resentment! [ gosh, how nostalgic. ]

And their names were Joshua and Grayson. We didn't find out Grayson was a female until after she'd taken to the name, unfortunately.

Why'd it resent you so much? It's not like you cut its balls off.

[ There's a slight smile, Jaye ducking her head. ] Cute.
