Tranquility, this is Jim Kirk.
Anyone injured or still suffering side effects from the fear gas should check in with medical. Scans are showing the gas is out of the ship's circulation now, but we can never be too careful. For anyone wondering, we do have a suspect in custody, but he's currently recovering from a high dosage of the toxin.
[he pauses, a clear indication that he's changing topics.]
We all knew we were being watched. Despite this recent information, nothing's really changed. Nevertheless I encourage everyone to stay alert and try not to travel alone. This thing is trying to make us nervous, lets try not to give it what it wants.
( Enterprise Crew, Re-l, Chase, John, Sherlock, Natasha, Kasumi, Dean || eta "Nick", Jack Harkness, Ianto, Magneto, Raven, Megamind, Roxanne, Tali, Hotspur, Isaac, Tony Stark, Aberdeen || flags to WARD and RESNIK )
[the filter is a simple one and used solely to make this post private from any civilian prying eyes. Jim knows it will be hacked, and he isn't about to toot his own horn publicly when people are panicking. he's flagged people both versed in this scientific bullshit and outside, because Jim knows as well as any that sometimes it takes an outside view to see outside the box.
just in case anyone hasn't spotted it yet, he fires off a LINK to the hidden documents, along with the translation, making it plain English instead of happy morse code.]
This isn't the first time this thing has mentioned me.
I'm not opening speculation about what the list means, we've got enough of that going on, but whatever this is has purposely left out the clues we need to figure it out. I think Chase has summed it up the best possible way: we're being laughed at.
I tried running another trace but the only thing I keep coming up with is static. Whatever this thing is, it's either part of the ship or has been here for a damn long time. It's coding is almost identical to the network's build.

video;
this is pretty freaking weird ngl.]
Alex right?
[just- to make sure]
I think after the recent developments people are going to be a lot more careful without my saying anything at all.
video;
[Alex sighs, shaking his head.]
I'm Alex, but not the one you know. There are two of us, now. But I'm from an alternate timeline...thing.
[He taps his forehead, and the scar on his forehead.]
Quick way to tell us apart.
[Back to the task.]
Thing is--they will for a while, then they'll slip back into old habits. People don't like to be scared all the time. They'll start to willfully ignore the truth to try and find some sort of normalcy.
video;
You sound like you have some experience in this.
[he says it carefully.]
video;
[Alex shrugs.]
Last place I was in, they liked to fuck with us on a near monthly basis. Instead of fighting it, some people just decided they wanted to live with it--make a nice little life for themselves.
[He could understand why they did it, even if he didn't agree.]
video;
that's- a terrifying concept, and it bothers him deeply but... he can get it. why people would do it. but the idea makes his stomach turn.]
I see.
[then he frowns.]
Where are you from? The other Alex- he's from the same place as Raven and Magneto and it didn't sound like what you're describing.
video;
[He can tell that this guy gets it. Which automatically places him above just the basic guy in his book. At least for now.]
I came from a city called Promenade. I went through the same things they did, but about four months ago I some how got...transported into this alternative world.
There were a lot of us there, from different universes, too; lot like here, actually.
[He learned things about alternative versions of himself, and the future. Not really things he probably ever wanted to know.]
I know it sounds like bullshit, but it's not.
We had formed a Resistance, to try and get control of the city. We were working on that when I woke up here.
[So basically back to square one.]
video;
that meant this was a bigger deal than previously considered.]
It sounds like the circumstances were the same, just not the actual destination.
[that's more to himself.]
You're a step ahead of pretty much everyone who shows up, then.
video;
[It sounds harsh, ominous--but maybe it should. It leaves a pit in his stomach, how the close the circumstances fit, for now.
At his other comment, he raises an eyebrow.]
Maybe--but people got to listen first.
video;
[just- not quite as violently as Alex is describing. yet at least. and while Jim doesn't want to compare this to a planet this kid was on, he'll take the warning as it is, because it leaves an upset twist in his stomach.]
I mean at least you've heard of multiple universes.
video;
[He presses his lips together, trying to debate on how to go about this. The guy seems to have some sway with people here--that's a start.]
Look--has anyone thought about organizing here? And I don't mean that police force.
video;
Care to elaborate?
video;
[Alex is paranoid; but he doesn't want to take chances.]
video;
I'll meet you, then. Deck 40.
video--action?
[Alex shuts off the connection, and after a momentary debate, decides to leave Bozo in his room, and heads off towards Deck 40; hopefully he wouldn't get lost in the process.
This is what he's been waiting for. He isn't going to waste it.]
action!
no subject
[Alex moves towards the other man, giving a short wave. It was always necessary to confirm; how people looked on devices wasn't always what you got in person.]
screams late i'm sorry
[he means it half literally, and ignores the fact that his memory betrays that it probably isn't true.
he closes the console and turns to face the boy, offers his hand when Alex is close enough.]
No worries!
Are we okay to talk here?
[He looked around, raising an eyebrow slightly. Talking about this stuff made him an easy target. And as much as he would like to work with people on getting out, he wasn't interested in getting tortured again.]
no subject
[he says it with a smile, but it's honest. Jim doesn't know, because how can he when something might be monitoring them at all hours? but as far as he could tell there were no eaves droppers, and they he hadn't been followed.]
What did you want to tell me?
no subject
When I was in Promenade--there was a resistance force. I joined it. We met in secret, and rarely if ever talked about it on the network for obvious reasons. I wanted to know if we had something like that here--because if we didn't, maybe we should get one.
no subject
From the sound of it, our situation isn't quite the same as yours. [he starts slowly, and his gaze remains fixed, watching every flicker of Alex's expression.] There's no resistance here because there's nothing to resist.
That being said, I'd be lying if I said there weren't more than a few of us operating outside what Ward and Resnik know.
no subject
[Alex's jaw is set, watching Jim just as carefully.]
And there is always something to resist. It just means you have to figure out what exactly it is.
We're prisoners. Someone is using us to man the ship. To say there is nothing to resist is like saying that we don't need to leave here.
[Alex isn't always the most articulate; he knows that--but he's trying to do his best.]
That works too.

As of right now, we don't know the caused the malfunction to trap us here. There are theories that it's that entity on the ship. The one we can't track. But we aren't sure.
Ward and Resnik have access to parts of the ship we don't. They're also the reason we're still flying and not floating aimlessly through space. I'm not telling you to trust them, most of us don't, but if what you're suggesting is the idea of mutiny I'm going to stop you before you get started.
no subject
[Alex nods, listening. Most of it sounds to him like they are just feeding everyone a load of bullshit to get a crew for their ship.]
I'm not thinking of a mutiny--someone told me already that someone tried and failed.
This is about being smarter and biding time rather than lashing out.
[A beat. Alex feels a bit nervous, and some of his confidence seems to leak away, then.]
I guess.

We've been through a number of jumps, and just by looking at the mechanics we can see it's a mess, nevermind the details on how to make a wormhole and use one. [he's not going to try and explain it] We're ninety percent certain it's a malfunction
