Tranquility, this is Jim Kirk.

Anyone injured or still suffering side effects from the fear gas should check in with medical. Scans are showing the gas is out of the ship's circulation now, but we can never be too careful. For anyone wondering, we do have a suspect in custody, but he's currently recovering from a high dosage of the toxin.

[he pauses, a clear indication that he's changing topics.]

We all knew we were being watched. Despite this recent information, nothing's really changed. Nevertheless I encourage everyone to stay alert and try not to travel alone. This thing is trying to make us nervous, lets try not to give it what it wants.

( Enterprise Crew, Re-l, Chase, John, Sherlock, Natasha, Kasumi, Dean || eta "Nick", Jack Harkness, Ianto, Magneto, Raven, Megamind, Roxanne, Tali, Hotspur, Isaac, Tony Stark, Aberdeen || flags to WARD and RESNIK )

[the filter is a simple one and used solely to make this post private from any civilian prying eyes. Jim knows it will be hacked, and he isn't about to toot his own horn publicly when people are panicking. he's flagged people both versed in this scientific bullshit and outside, because Jim knows as well as any that sometimes it takes an outside view to see outside the box.

just in case anyone hasn't spotted it yet, he fires off a LINK to the hidden documents, along with the translation, making it plain English instead of happy morse code.]

This isn't the first time this thing has mentioned me.

I'm not opening speculation about what the list means, we've got enough of that going on, but whatever this is has purposely left out the clues we need to figure it out. I think Chase has summed it up the best possible way: we're being laughed at.

I tried running another trace but the only thing I keep coming up with is static. Whatever this thing is, it's either part of the ship or has been here for a damn long time. It's coding is almost identical to the network's build.

[It takes him a while to speak up, if only because the memory of the Fear Gas is so sharp in his mind. He lost his temper, and yet Kirk still breathes. Not a mistake a Blade should make.]

[Still, it's hardly practical to avoid this. And a puzzle is exactly the sort of stick-and-carrot needed to motivate a reluctant Wraith, if only for him to create an even more dangerous counter-puzzle.]

I would find it far more plausible that there is a natural intelligence behind these latest antics than an artificial one. Even if this one had been trained to be exceptionally cryptic, it would still need to be trained.

More importantly, it should be noted that we are strangers here, and that any sort of computer coding would seem impossibly difficult to one not versed in it. You would balk if I asked you to write code in Wraith, and yet even the most technophobic of my Blades knows how to write a simple bypass. Simply because we cannot easily navigate this system does not mean that the native humans cannot either.

There is very little practical reason to create a truly sentient ship. The cost of resources alone outweighs the scant benefits, and one would effectively create a life-form with no niche in nature. These people have the capacity to build ships comparable to our own, but even the Wraith do not have the resources to create sentient hives - and our collective reach covers much of Pegasus.

No, I believe that our mysterious list-maker is of flesh and bone.

[And flesh and bone is fallible.]

I was unclear. I should think that a great number of humans native to this space-time have at least a passing knowledge of the technology aboard. After all, this is a colony ship. How else would other humans be able to build a space station so far out here if, when they lack even the most rudimentary of hyperdrives, they had not come to such places by colony ship?

While we were otherwise occupied, this ship docked near Tansei Station. Given our hosts' consistent ineptitude, I imagine that a skilled stowaway would have little trouble boarding.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I can't recall any such strange activity occurring until after this ship left Tansei.

[There's a small change in his voice: interest, genuine interest. Here's another piece of the puzzle, another hint, another lead. The kind of interest that he might forgive past or imagined transgressions over.]

Is this door still accessible?

Did he mention where he found it?

Yes. As sharp as your Vulcan is, I prefer to see things with my own eyes.

As you were, then. Try not to let another mutiny wrack this ship while I am away.

[Told you so, Jimmy, told you so.]
