i- i know more people knew jenna than elena but they're both dead. near the oxygen garden. so i just- everyone needed to know and now you do.

[He reads the words without processing them at first, but some part of his mind must understand, because Stefan's expression goes blank and he goes very still, holding his communicator. No. He still can't. Even though some part of him has always anticipated one day having to see "Elena Gilbert" and "dead" in the same sentence. It's hard enough to believe Jenna — to have seen her bright and joking and strong again, only to be...?

He doesn't remember having hit the key to reply. When he notices, Stefan's lips part as if he might say something, but all he can think of is— who—

[ it takes her a bit to reply, because--

[ when he sees elena face all he can hear is we're dead and it's your fault over and over again. she's not- she can't be real. he saw her body and the blood and she can't be real. she can't be talking to him.

he flips the feed over to voice before he speaks, his voice cracking and sounding just like he doesn't believe this. ]

No, you're not. You're- You're on the floor near the gardens. I saw you, Elena. You're. You're not alive.

[Stefan comes back to the network with the intent of finding Klaus. Or Damon. Damon. If his brother found out Elena was dead, then he might...

It doesn't matter. He hears her voice, sees her face. Stefan's practically talking before he's hit the button to transmit, not sounding entirely calm.]

[ he doesn't say a word for a very long time before he finally says something. his voice cracks and he just doesn't know how to fully articulate how this can't be real.

she's dead. he saw her body. this time she was supposed to be dead for real. ]

I don't- Jenna, you're not- you're not actually real. Your body is on the floor. You're bleeding and you're not fine. You're dead and even if I want it to be true, you're dead, Jenna. I saw it this time. It's not like at home. I just saw your body.

[Tyler? Not close to Alaric (though he remembers the time the guy stood up to his dad, not something too many people did ever, so that was cool) and before now? He wasn't even aware that he was on the ship.

But nonetheless, this catches his attention.]
