jenna sommers and elena gilbert are- they're dead.

i- i know more people knew jenna than elena but they're both dead. near the oxygen garden. so i just- everyone needed to know and now you do.

[ it's short and to the point, if only because ric doesn't entirely trust himself to say much else. it's the same reason he choose text over voice or video. this proclamation is hard enough to get out right now and speaking coherently is a bit beyond his reach. ]

I was her boyfriend up until I just found her dead. Let me guess, you're joining in on the chorus of, but Alaric, she's alive, she can't be dead.

No, I'm in the chorus of trying to figure out why I can trust you. [ Somehow plant guy doesn't translate over to her being your girlfriend okay. ]

Explain to me one good reason why I'd lie about her being dead. I'm curious to hear what reason you can come up with. [ did she need to like be holding his hand while he talked about it for him to make that connection or what? because no, practical demonstrations in the oxygen gardens is a definite no go. ]

You're assuming right. We're- yeah, I'm her present one. It's why I'd know that it was her I saw and not some random blonde.

[ Charles still sucks, for the record. Worst foot in mouth syndrome ever. ]

Because what she's told me leaves me less inclined to trust anyone here. [ It's a complicated story and as far as Erik knows, Ric falls along the lines of people Erik can't trust in the slightest either. But he's speaking as if she's dead and Erik needs information for what it's worth. ]

Wouldn't be the work of a man named Klaus, would it?

She told- She didn't even tell- This is nice. I'm a person you can trust in this situation, ironically enough. As in, if I could have done it, Klaus would be very very dead right now, trustworthy.

[ a beat and a shaky exhale. ] Got it in one. Finished the job that the Tranquility undid. Why did you want to know?

Because she told me Klaus is on board. And so is her niece.

[ A pause. ]

Jenna is a friend of mine, I have no intention of letting this go unnoticed.

Klaus still is. Elena's a dead body now, so technically can't count her as being on the ship any more can we?

[ a pause. ]

Not yet. I- I made a promise that I wouldn't go near him and I know what he can do firsthand. Not just through a story. I've lived through it. I'm not too inclined to be trapped on the ship with him murdering everyone.
