[There is a small girl looking at you from the video screen ship. She still looks a little sad, like she's been crying recently but ignore that. She has important things to say.]

Hi,  my name's Newt.  This is my second jump but I didn't get to introduce myself last time.  I thought people should know that Ripley went home. She was my friend so I'm going to be looking after her cat for her until I see her again. His name is Jones and he's very important.

Also when the monsters were attacking last time I saw one from home. If there's any eggs left, you have to be careful because they'll jump out and on your face and then you'll die when they're born in your chest. Fire works best for getting rid of them before they get at you. If you get too many of them they'll take over the ship and kill everyone. And we don't have anywhere to run to.

Ripley said she left him back on earth before she came to Hadley's Hope and met me. That way he wasn't in danger. So I have to keep him safe here too.

But there is no fire here.

[At least he's seen none. Neither the lights nor the heating seems to need fire, it's all done with some kind of magic, and that is a lot safer probably? But where would he even get fire from against beasts like that?

They might have flamethrowers. That's what Ripley used. It's a gun that shoots fire at things.

Oh and Evangeline said there are people here with magic that can make fire.

I have magical fire, but they're my friends and I don't want their faces to be eaten by eggs.

...Where would they have flamethrowers? [He'll see about procuring one of these.]

Eggs that grab our faces and make aliens burst out of our chests.

[Gogo is pretty sure she has seen that movie.]

[A child. She wasn't expecting that at all, and the surprise shows on her face before Jemma gives her a soft smile.]

Hello Newt, I'm Jemma. Do you know where any of these monster eggs might be?

[Newt shakes her head.]

I don't know if there are any. But there might be, because there were monsters here.

And what happened to all the monsters?

[Just... give him a few moments. He's... a bit horrified at that thought. He's already had nightmares about Martians from when he first arrived, but there's some relief at knowing these creatures can be killed with fire.

Really, he just can't stand to see children cry...]

Er, right... Hullo Newt. I see you're already getting help with your friend's cat. That's very sweet of you to take care of him. [His tone is soft, comforting.] I just so happen to have control over fire via magic. Could you please tell me what these eggs look like? I'll be sure to be on the lookout and do away with them immediately.

My name's Arthur. Is there anything I can help you with? I can sew, and garden, and I know my way round an assortment of weapons. [He pauses briefly. This ship has already skewed his idea of things children need.] Um. I could also help you find more fun things to do. There's a library here with all sorts of books, although I can spin a good tale or two myself.

They're really big eggs and they're gross looking. Grey...um the tops open up and.....

[She trails off because flashbacks.]

They're bad.

[She doesn't like to think about them but she felt that Ripley would have wanted her to warn people about them. Plus if people don't know the ship could be taken over and she could die.]

....can you teach me to do magic?

Right, I'll keep both eyes on the watch. [He looks worried, realising maybe he's brought back some ugly memories, so he decides a swift change of subject is a really good idea.]

I--! Oh, magic. Ah, sadly, no, not proper magic anyway, but--! I can teach you how to pull a coin out of someone's ear like they did it from thin air, things like that! Things that seem impossible even if they're small like that, that's a fun kind of magic anyone can learn.

Very useful if you find yourself feeling sad, or if you want to practice something to get your mind off things you don't want to think about. And rather entertaining for people who just can't figure out how you did it!

I've searched as much of the ship as I can and haven't seen any traces of the monsters that were here. I believe it should be safe for now, but security will keep an eye out regardless.

[That needs to sound less like a report, oops. She'll attempt to fix that with a smile.]

[No that's good because it sounds like a real report. And yes maybe there aren't any and she will be able to sleep on her bed and not hidden under it now.]

[Eponine wouldn't have paid much attention to the video, but the girl reminds her of her brother, and, well, she knows what it looks like to have been crying.

She leans closer to the console, almost conspiratorially.]
