001 ♗ video

[ Hey Ataraxion, have one obviously annoyed, slightly frustrated, small brunette currently looking into what she assumes is the camera of the device in front of her. She’s only been here for a couple of hours, and already she thinks this is some convoluted dream – she just hasn’t figured out whose yet.

Brow furrowed, she lets out a long sigh, rubbing at the back of her neck before finally speaking to the screen. ]
So it seems I'm not alone here. [ Which is a good thing, right? (or so she hopes) ] Yet none of you seem to have any real answers.

[ It’s not annoyance in her voice then, more sympathetic perhaps. (She feels your frustrations, okay?)  A small smile ghosts across her face, taking on an almost hopeful expression. ]

Is there a way we could all work together - start ruling out some possibilities maybe?

At least maybe get an idea as to why we were the ones taken. [Quickly adding: ] Is there something significant about you others would find beneficial – anything that may be important?

[ She pauses, attention turning away from the device, and the faint sound of metal hitting the table can be heard. (She tests her totem yet again, still unsatisfied with the results.) Her attention drifts back to the screen, as she clearly is fighting back the panic and uncertainty before she mumbles. ]

Dreams feel real when you're in them...

[ Not that the rest of the people here would understand that. But she needs to keep reminding herself this fact. ]

[ She's been brainstorming and dismissing possibilities ever since she woke up and stopped being disoriented long enough to think straight. The most obvious answer doesn't seem to fit, and nothing else seems likely. It's a bit of a mystery. ]

Weirder things have happened. I heard a story once about a man who woke up naked three planets away from where he went to sleep. Of course, I always figured he just got drunk and boarded a transport ship and then was too embarassed to tell anyone.

Oh, sure. The personal capacity for creativity and weirdness is pretty much unlimited in my experience. Compared to some of the things I've seen on the job, spontaneous interplanetary transportation is barely on the radar.

[ It was always a little funny to her what people would reveal about themselves to a thief without a second thought, often without even realizing they were doing it. ]

[ At a mysterious location elsewhere on the ship, Kasumi laughs to herself. ]

Where I come from, there are some fast ways of getting around. Sending a ship through a mass relay can let you jump thousands of light years in an instant. But we still haven't figured out how to teleport instantly and definitely not between planets.

Every now and then, someone claims to have done it, though. Usually right before they charge a fortune to be interviewed about their experiences.

Here and there. I never stay in any one place for very long. Most recently I'm from the Normandy, which is a ship a little like this one. And before that, a space station we call the Citadel, right in the middle of the Serpent Nebula.

[ Not that she really expects any of that to sound familiar. ]

Let me take a guess. Where -- and when -- you're from, the idea of travelling faster than light is still pretty much a fairytale? Am I close?

[ One of the nice things about coming from the kind of world that Kasumi comes from: the idea that more than one dimension might exist seems pretty plausible. ]
