I should like, also, to discuss our backgrounds. I have done this in the past, I will grant, and as such I beg a bit of patience from those who have previously seen such questions. Nevertheless, I believe that discovering the commonalities amongst us will assist in the uncovering of the reason why we were brought here; more, a general census will, I think, assist in preventing people from falling through the cracks, as it were.

You're pretty quick to offer a generous amount of help to a stranger you've just met.

Help within reason. I will not share confidential information or anything that would endanger anyone's privacy or safety. But anyone who is willing to work towards a resolution of this situation will get full cooperation from me.

[There's a pause and the sound of Booker fiddling with his communicator for a brief second. The feed then flickers to video so he can get a better idea of who he's speaking with, if they're going to start talking about investigative resources and the like.

So hi Edgeworth. ~~Nice cravat. Booker's isn't as fancy.~~]

You said you're with Security. Exactly what kind of resources does Security have?

[And Edgeworth hesitates a moment, then follows suit. No harm in it. So hi, Booker; enjoy the fact that Pompous McCrabbyson has been, all this time, a kid barely out of his teens.]

Only those we've carved out for ourselves, sir. We have manpower; we have a small space we've reclaimed for our offices; we have holding cells; we have some peacekeeping equipment; and we have the files I've compiled. That is all.

[He certainly notices that much. And while Booker is usually not one to reign in his blunt commentary, this time he elects to not mention Edgeworth's age -- he has a feeling it probably wouldn't be taken too well. No need to offend the man offering to help.

So if Edgeworth notices the faint lifting of Booker's brow, he's surely just imagining things.]

You make it sound like it isn't much, but it's a lot more than what I'm workin' with right now. I'd like to have access to those files, for the sake of looking over information other people have gathered over time. And a proper office would be nice change of pace, too.

Then does this mean that you are seeking to join Security, sir?

[That's asked neutrally. Edgeworth would be glad to have a man of Booker's level head on the team, but he does not wish to sound too...eager. Or desperate.]

I suppose I am.

[He didn't plan on doing so when he first began this conversation, but it's funny how certain things turn out.]

[Good.]

Very well. We shall be quite glad to have you. You shall have to interview with Tyke, who is the head of the department; I will set up a time for that, by your leave.

...An interview? That sort of thing necessary?

It is, sir. As Security has access to potentially sensitive information and weaponry, and as we do require a certain level of combat competence to join, Tyke insists on getting to know potential members prior to admitting them to the team.

[A slight hesitation - ]

You are able to fight, sir?

[It's a fair enough precaution and Booker knows it. Regardless, he can't help but wonder what kind of questions might take place in said interview. He still has quite a bit about himself that he isn't too keen on sharing.

His answer is quick enough, though.]

[A small bow.]

Very good. Will you be free tomorrow to speak with her?

[wow how formal]

Don't have anything else planned at the moment, so that should be fine.

Appreciate it. Though you don't need to keep callin' me "sir". Just DeWitt will do.
