[ The device pops on, the screen showing nothing but the fabric of someone's jumpsuit. Muffled sound of sobbing can be heard for a few moments, followed by sniffling, as the person tries to gain some composure.

After a moment they are fumbling with the device in attempt to flip it up towards their face. The sight of a distressed Ariadne can be seen then - looking more like she has been through the wringer then anything, and it's obvious something is wrong with her. She clutches her favorite silk scarf to her chest, wincing in pain before finally speaking. ]

Something's on the ship. [ Screw the filters and encrypting - she doesn’t care - she is scared as hell. ]

(( ooc: this would be for the FEEDING PLOT. Feel free to have this be action or whatever with Ariadne. Or even a catchall for others to communicate. LETS CAUSE A PANIC GUYS. : ) )

[The sound coming out of Topher's mouth might be a laugh or it might be something else.] So wait. You can actually program people to make decisions based on your parameters? Actually hack the brain from the inside? [Another laugh] That is... Really awesome. [Yes, Topher. This is the kind of tech that nearly destroyed the world, but it's so much simpler- it's not bodyjacking. It's like what Bennett did with Perrin. Hell, this was practically Bennett's endgame, even if she didn't know it yet.] And you don't have to install any extra hardware in their heads to interface with the brain?

[ ariadne just seems to look at him slightly confused by what he's saying a moment. as he honestly lost her at the hardware and interfaces. ] Uh no - just the PASIV and somnacin and we're in.

Why would we install hardware? We're just planting ideas or extracting them. [ she finds herself looking at him slightly bewildered then, as she isn't sure what to make of his reaction to this. she assumed of course, he honestly might find it fascinating. but yet, she wasn't sure how someone would take to the idea of her doing what she did. ] You're taking this better then I thought.

[Another half-laugh] I actually don't know what those things are. This must be what other people feel like. [And yet, he's actually kind of excited about it. Especially now that he can neuro-geek out.]

Okay, so.. The brain's a massive computer, so to get it to do what you want it to do... You have to hack the system and completely overwrite it. And the reason I'm taking this so well is... That's what I used to do. I... Basically reprogrammed other people's brains.

[ she isn't sure if she wants to smile or look obviously surprised by all of this. but the pain is still there obviously, and she is wincing slightly as she lets out a small giggle yet again. ] You incept peoples for a living - yet you do it without the need of a PASIV -- huh. [ well you learn something new everyday. ]

You realize what we're doing is wrong, right? [ not that it needed to be said, but the humor she found in it was truly there. and even if it was wrong, there was no way she was giving it up now. ]

Arthur and Eames are gonna love you. [ a beat ] And you and I will be having a talk more when I'm thinking properly.

I use a chair- it's a system of efflorescent light. Wipe the mind clean, install the right hardware, and you can basically upload anything to it. Muscle memories, regular memories, impulses, desires... Basically, you make people into other people- with their permission. I don't just... Do it to anyone.

[He pauses and pinches the bridge of his nose.] I was almost single-handedly responsible for the destruction of the human race... I'm kinda getting a vague idea. But if this is really what we're dealing with... We could be the only people who could actually help.

[All sadness flies out the window in an instant.] Great. I'm just happy to not be alone in all this. Being aware enough to know it's wrong isn't the same as everyone telling you that you're a terrible person.

[ hold up. what? ] You almost wiped out the human race -- with your technique of mind control -- really?

[ not that she means to sound surprised, it is just leaves her in a bit of amazement at it all. (but hey, she is impressed if that's the right word.)

a small crinkle of her nose and she is nodding in agreement to him, before she slowly adjusts herself in her seat, attempting to mask the pain as she does. ] When you die in a dream, you wake up. Obviously I didn't die - but even this should have been enough for me to wake up with - so I guess I'm a bit confused as to what's going on.

But yeah, it would be nice to figure out how we're all connected - trying to get the others on board though -- I don't think that is going to be easy. So as of now -- it's just the four of us it appears that might be able to figure things out.

When you put it like that, it sounds so.... [Yeah, poor awkward Topher cannot finish that sentence. It sounds like a lot of things.]

I've worked with less. All we really need is the equipment- something in the infirmary, some tech ripped off from some other part of the ship- I knew a guy who made an imprint chair out of parts from the trash. If he can do it, I can do it. [And once again, Topher's insane jealousy of Alpha's brain... Is annoying and kind of dangerous. Either way, he's actually really excited about the propspect of doing this.] We could pull this off.

Sorry. [ it's the best apology she can come up with. as she only assumes it's not the best topic of conversation -- the death of the world that is. and she can understand the guilt that could possibly be hidden in it, as she will admit to feeling guilty at times for the things she has done.

but hey, move on to a plan -- she would rather focus on that then anything right now. and after a moment of though, she adds hopeful. ] Arthur has the PASIV here on the ship. Maybe it would be worth looking at?

Even if it isn't, I'd... Still like to see it. [Because NEW TOYS OMG, but yes, he's cool. Totally... Cool. Not gleefitting at the thought of seeing a PASIV.]

[ convincing arthur (who she hasn't seen recently :/) is something she feels she can do, so really there shouldn't be any issues. cause hey, if he can figure something out, she is willing to let him see almost anything. ]

We'll get you and Arthur to talk shop then. [ a smile - faint but still a smile - before she is nodding slightly at her thoughts. ]

I don't think we should be telling anyone about what we know -- or can do -- at least not yet. There are obviously people that cant be trusted here.

Yeah, I... Was definitely planning on keeping that, um... On the down-low. Most people don't get it. And moral outrage just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Exactly. I'm not all to keen on explaining my justification for what I've done. So I'm glad we're on the same page. [ there is a ghost of a smile that appears at the corner of her mouth then, quickly turning it into something more tired and not all there.

quietly adding: ] Thank you, Topher. You I'm glad I can count on you.

[He smiles and ducks his head in some imitation of humility.] Just happy to help.
