[Ruby's in the kitchen, nursing a cup of coffee. She looks tired, though not overly so. Adapting to life on board isn't going all that great for her - but thank whatever deity you want to insert here for coffee, because Ruby is just going to survive on that. Hey, Grenny pestered her with early morning diner shifts often enough, and Ruby isn't ashamed to admit that she's addicted. Doesn't mean she's gonna kick the habit anytime soon. She smiles at the camera, friendly as always.]

Hey guys. Ruby here, for those I haven't met yet. Pleasure to meet you, not pleased about the weird circumstances, you know how it goes.

Two things... first of all. I gather I'm not the only one hallucinating. Or... having dreams. Memories. I'm not awake enough to puzzle that out. Is this some sort of... group hallucination, and what's so interesting about two people talking about how hot some prisoner is, anyway? Do I need to be concerned? Do I need to... I don't know, do anything about this, report it to anyone?

[She rubs a face down her hands, smiles, because all this sounds insane, but it seems to be common practice here.]

Second thing... well. I was wondering. I'll admit, I'm not the brightest bulb to ever light the room. So... we're in space. And I was just wondering, if you were. Say. Sensitive to the moon.

[Yeah, this is harder than she'd thought. Crap. Ruby takes a long sip of her coffee, a little too hot for comfort, but the burn is quite welcome right now. She can't exactly go saying that she's a werewolf and very likely to kill anything that moves in front of her during three months a night, because she doesn't think she'll be in control of the wolf after not transforming for a whooping 28 years, plus she doesn't have the magical cloak that'll prevent the transformation - yeah, that's not gonna get her pushed out of an air lock at all. She's had enough angry mobs after her in her own time.]

Are we in any way affected by moon cycles, given that we... well. Have no... moon of our own?

[Yeah, it sounds even more stupid when she says it out loud, but does the truth of her little problem really sound any less stupid?]

I'm sure we'll get used to it. I can't imagine the transformations here can be worse than they are at home.

The transformation is actually really the least problematic thing. I mean, not much to it, shifting into the wolf form. But if I can't remain the lucid, and the wolf overtakes... I've terrorized my own home village for years before realizing it was me.

But then again, it's almost comforting, isn't it? Bad coffee in cheap diners along the road, bad coffee in space... it's nice to know some things don't change, no matter how advanced everything else is.

Curse. Didn't turn for 28 years, just made the wolf pissed.

[Repression is so not a good thing here.]

So what, you need a clothes that belong to me?

[Just her luck, when she's arrived in the clothes she wore to the diner. Her apron isn't gonna be the second incarnation of the cloak, that much is sure.

Maybe the plaid shirt... less stylish than the cloak, admittedly, but it'll do.

Ruby's still not entirely sure she wants to do this. It would be ridiculously helpful, a safety net she really needs. But at the same time, it would leave her indebted to Gold, and even if he claims his playing board isn't what she needs to be concerned about, how can she help it, when every source of trouble from back home is either Regina or Gold?]

[Ruby does the same, raises the beer as if to take a drink, but then grins and puts it down. First blood, and it's not hers.]

[Oh, girls. They're definitely both reverting to particularly little ones.]

I can see how that could be strange.

[Ruby raises her coffee, as if it indeed was filled with booze (it isn't, sadly). But he's right, at least the company is good.]

I'm not really...good at much, but if you need help, I'm always happy to try my best.

[She could look decorative, at least. But really, Ruby's happy to help out in any way she can - which, currently, doesn't amount to a lot. But hey, the offer's there.]

Friend isn't the right word, exactly. But yeah, he's from home. Not the one who cast the curse, but definitely responsible for plenty of unpleasantness.

[They called him the Dark One, and not for nothing.]

[Yeah, that just seals it. Ruby knows this need to deflect. Takes one to know one, etc, right? Too bad she's much too stubborn to be put off by that. Derek's gained a friend, whether he likes it or not.]

You two, okay Cupcake? I need you safe and sound.

That's good to hear. I suppose it'll definitely help me get settled.

Yeah, most people seem to be more closed off. But then I guess, on this ship you really can't be, given, you know, the whole assortment of people you have here. And creatures.

[ derek almost laughs. ]

I'm not going anywhere. I can handle myself up here.

[sarah just nods at that] Do you have anyone from home here? Because that tends to help too.

Mm, yeah it's different on this ship because of that.

Oh come on, everyone is good at something.

A little sentimental value would be preferable, but yes, at the most basic.

[Which, considering Ruby's choice in wardrobe, could result in him working with who knows what. The idea almost makes him miss the cloak. It had been a beautiful piece.]

Ahhh.

[It's a disappointed sigh, but his gulp of space beer is very enthusiastic.]

That was just a test, miss. Someone had to be first. All right, not allergic. Phobic?

[It might be easy to guess what Ruby was talking about, but Cora's still going to lock the conversation as soon as there's a direct mention of wolves.]

You could just need one shift to clear that out. Purge it.

It's really funny to watch where he is, though. Ever seen an invisible dog roll in the mud?

[He has learned by now that it isn't informal to call someone by their first name upon first meeting them, so he accepts that with a light smile and a nod.]

Are you settling in well, or were there other questions you have need of answer to? I cannot promise I have any very great knowledge, but I should like to be of help.

Not bad. Also pretty in line with what werewolves usually are like here. Or in myth and everything. I'd ask what the canine advantage was, but I'm pretty sure that might cross a line I think I'll save for when we know each other better.
