After letting the camera roll for a moment so that you, dear viewer, can come to terms with what you're looking at, she focuses it on her face and starts to speak. ]

This is overdue, but we're going to be having another information session on space, space travel, and the features we're aware of on board the Tranquility in a few hours. Make the time to attend. For those of you who want to get caught up on the previous lessons, I'll include a link to the recordings.

We're going to be going over everything, including evacuation protocols, but I'm going to be paying special attention to what I know about stasis. [ Which admittedly isn't much, as they use cryosleep, but it's more than most of the ship. ] It's been a popular topic lately, after all.

If it were just oxygen that were the problem, maybe. But if life support is down... well, artificial gravity may still be functioning, but it might not be. It's the cold that would really get to us, though.

Personally, I'd be fine with a bit of floating. But we need heaters? If anything that sounds easier. Far easier to store than oxygen anyway.

That depends on what we have to run them on, how many, how high they'll go...

Surely a lot of those issues would still apply with oxygen? The only difference is that heaters are hopefully less hazardous and prone to explosions.

I'm a bit of an engineering enthusiast. [Cue a very smug, self-satisfied look at Q's apparent understatement, even if his complacency is a little unwarranted. This is hardly his speciality after all.]

Then you should know that we'd need enough heaters to keep the entire ship running, not just keep us alive. Space is cold; the water pipes, especially, will get too cold and break. We'll run out of non-perishables as well, and unless we have enough heat to keep the entire Oxygen Gardens functioning...

[Ah, well that told him. He's quiet for a second then narrows his eyes, somewhat sheepish, though still not too keen on being trumped like that, particularly in what he considers to be his own field.] I suppose you have a point there...

I wish I didn't. [ Carolyn can handle being wrong, can handle stepping aside. But she's not willing to die again. ]

Well, hopefully it won't come to that. The ship does seem to be fairly self-sufficient.

Self-sufficient enough that two people could stay alive on it, at least. With this many more, a little more work has to go in.
