As I have been assigned a position on the team of xenobiologists here, part of my duties includes taking a sample from each and every being on this ship. I assume it is strictly for record purposes, and such information may aid the medical staff if something unfortunate should happen.

At the earliest convenience, everyone on board will come to the medical bay for a blood sample and a few questions. Each session should be brief; we wouldn't want to keep you from your other preoccupations.

[[Okay, here's how it's going to go down! This is both apparently an actual thing listed under the xenobio job department, and an excuse for Alexander to be a massive creep and cause a little pain to others while getting some blood. Bad habit, that.

Problem is, I don't like needles. Yeah, worst mun for the job, I know. So all of Alexander's work is going to be off-screen, but if you could put an ooc note in this post stating what he might have found out (Name, original species, special abilities, blood type/colour, pain/fear level in regards to needles or creepy old men in general, and anything else of interest), that would be fantastic!

If you're the kind of person who really would rather play that scene out, our Kabuto mun is going to start a log for the same purpose as well. Anyone else with a character going into that department is free to join in there, persuade Alexander to let them help him instead, or whatever!]]

Well.

I'm not. ...Er, sorry, that is. Um. That I get to talk to you. I mean, you like my hair, and I agree that probably all the ship needed to do was ask and I would have come. Better here than being stuck on a meteor, or dead. A new chance still is kind of great, but, how can you trust anything, when, uh, whatever brought us here, did it in a way that makes it clear, that it doesn't care about what we want?

I didn't even have anything to run away from, finally. I had my apartment, and a job. It was going okay. I still would have come. Kind of sucks my potted plant is going to die, though.

Wait, did you say meteor?

That sounds pretty nice! I'm sorry also, about your plant. A good friend of mine really likes plants, too. Um. Yes, we were stuck on a meteor, because our planet was destroyed, and we did not succeed in creating an idyllic new universe to live in. Uh...except that sort of we did, only it was yours, and we didn't go live there, we were just stuck in paradox space. And then a dream bubble, after I died.

...Wow, that probably doesn't make any sense. Uh, basically, I am happy to be alive, and in an actual place, although this could maybe be paradox space! That might explain some things...but I don't really know.

[Heather blinks the slow blink of someone trying to figure out whether they're being messed with, and decides that a) he doesn't seem like the messing type, and b) if he IS, he's so good at it she should just buy it out of respect.]

Holy crap, kid. That's... you know what? Good for you. Okay, that didn't sound sarcastic in my head. I mean it! It's kind of awesome that you look at things that way.

[she's smiling now; she's convinced herself]

Is that why you're... [vague gesturing] doing this? Helping out?

[Oh, smiling is good! Tavros grins back, and laughs a bit at the sarcasm remark. And she thinks something he did was awesome! WOW!]

Well, yeah! If you get too down about things, you end up not being able to do anything, and that's even less fun, and very dangerous for survival. Which is, basically, yes, why I want to do this! Um, I am good with biology in general, and also, I do not want to be culled for being dead weight.

...Although it seems like a lot of people are not getting work, and yet they are not being killed or punished for it. Which is, uh, different. But it isn't a troll ship, so, uh...let's all be happy for that. The place would be better organized, but there would be a looooot fewer people.

Culled? The hell kind of crappy - [insert eyes widening, stammering, and coughing fit]

[she can't help giggling at the way Tavros explains how life would be different if it were a troll ship, but in kind of a laugh-or-cry way. This kid is getting the stuffing hugged out of him at some point in the future.]

Oh! I haven't even told you my name, have I? Rude. I'm Heather. It's nice to meet you, Tavros.

[They'd been fed reasons why this way of life was important and necessary basically from birth, but she seemed really shocked by it, so Tavros decided maybe it was okay to not go into it more.]

You too, Heather. Um. I'm really glad you wanted to talk to me about all this. I don't think you're rude. I forgot to tell someone my name until the third time I'd talked to him once, even after I decided I liked him! You are, basically, the politest!

[hear that sound? That is the sound of Heather manfully fighting off the urge to respond with "and you are the cutest!"]

I'm glad, too. I haven't really spent much time talking to people here. Too busy being freaked out and angry, I guess. So thank you. I'm kind of feeling better about this already. I'll see you around?
