[The video comes on, and the only thing anyone watching can see is a shock of black hair and part of a bright blue eye.
She's had the communicator since her arrival, of course, but it's so far out of her realm of understanding that it took her a while to decide whether she should actually touch it, or if she should just throw it out. Of course, eventually her natural curiosity won out and so she's inspecting it now, obviously unaware that the video is recording. Hawke jostles it again, and more of her face comes into view.]
-box, if there's nothing shiny inside it? [She's either talking to herself, or talking to someone off-camera, who knows?] Unless it's some relic with magical powers. The last one I encountered drove everyone who owned it mad - I think I'll pass on that.

And yes, it seems even men, who have no magic either can, as well.

[Sorry, Hawke. Going to have some word association struggles.]

[Because clearly, the mages must have done something wrong.]

Why, for being big, scary mage-shaped people, of course!

I fear I don't understand the jest.

Mages, serah, are locked up for being mages.

[He doesn't know if that's a good thing or not.
But then--]
...that's ridiculous.

Or tries to, anyway.

To lock up one sort just for their abilities seems a grand injustice.

And sometimes it just motivates people to treat others like slaves.

I would agree on fear. Luckily...we have not turned to that, in my world.

[It had been bought by a heavy price--his own life--but it seems worth it.]

Probably for the best I can't visit your world. I'd probably just make a mess of everything.
no subject
Considering the right mess some of us have made, I think you would fit right in.

And I can't believe we've been brought here by chance alone.
