neal isn't watching the post and in fact has no idea he made it, due to the anon function no ic tracing can be done; but it's not like he didn't do this already, so the people who know his work don't need to icly beat around the bush to spare MYSTERY etc.

If it helps, I think creeping people out is the primary directive - there hasn't been much substance to these things yet. The most disconcerting part at this point is the ship's apparent fondness for 60s/70s rock of questionable quality.

Okay, yeah, killing and general B-movie horror is also its prime directive. People tend to be a little on edge.

And maybe I lied about no substance, there's usually a running theme that's relevant to the ship. Last time was worlds and universes and existential crises, not really sure where this one's headed yet.

But no, I don't think it's teaching so much as taunting. People who miss the quizzes seem to be just as in the know as the ones who try to make sense of them.
