Speaking of which, am I allowed to ask how much of that was really new information? I know I'm not the first one to figuratively faint in the presence of the Enterprise crew, here. You knew something was up already.

Did we know we were fictional in some universes? Yes. Well, Spock and I did.

[ He notes the switch to private, and it makes him feel slightly uncomfortable. Well done. Insert flashbacks to those dramatic "Enterprise crew on trial" episodes now. But he gets the existential crisis thing, and he'd want a straight answer, so- ]

It's true, but only in the sense of it being one of literally, like, a bajillion stories involving you and your crew. It's not one many people consider valid.

Even if we go with the theory that what's fiction to me is reality for you, a real nerd would argue that the universe you come from is unique from all of the previously established ones. In which case, none of the stories I know would apply.

An alternate reality, yeah. That's why those from Picard's crew haven't been concerned about changing the past.

[ Not much of an answer, and he's not really sure how much he should elaborate. Considering how usually conversations he's had involving these plots are irreverent and dismissive (because, really, talk about a dumb way to end a legacy), it's suddenly like thin ice.

That and he's not sure if he should mention the fact that in that stupid book Kirk's brought back to life by aliens and used against the Federation. He's guessing not. ]
