[ Look, it's an Isaac, slouching in his old room - the one that matches the numbers on his arm, not the one he sleeps in. It looks mostly unused because he's only been in there for all of six hours before he moved down to Derek's space. "Mostly" is a keyword, though; he's been staying here infrequently, in between avoiding Derek and other familiar (adult) faces. Maybe Erica knows where he's been. Or Remus, or Hayley, or Tyler, or Seraphim. He's pretty sure no one over eighteen knows, Isaac's gone lengths on the matter.

He's not wearing his mask, even if he's been wearing it a lot lately; Isaac knows a thing or two about keeping quiet, especially about things that can and do hurt you. The confused sad look he's wearing right now, though - it's a bit too clean. It's sincere, mostly.

"Mostly" is our word of the day.

Then he holds up a combat knife for the network to see.]

I don't know anyone she was friends with, but for what it's worth, Miss Rosella's not around anymore. She left me this, for some reason.

It's a pretty big knife.

Anyway, people have been disappearing, and there's this big thing going down about Smiley and stuff, so I guess this is a bad time to ask about gym equipment, and like. Who do we talk to about appropriating one of the bigger rooms or a holodeck to set up a gym? I mean, we probably already have one or two but this one's more of like, a club thing?

More of a thing that's just ours, not something pre-made and ready to use. Is that allowed?

i checked everywhere i could and i can't find her. network id's 404 error-ing me, so i guess she's not on the ship anymore.

no offense, sheriff, but it's still hard to forget that time when your deputies arrested him on a murder charge and put him in holding. put him in lock-up, and perhaps you might get the chance to know why that's a big issue for him all the goshdarn time. ]

I don't think... I mean, I think we're pretty safe here? [ hahaha no. ] Safe in the general "we won't feel it when the ship explodes" kind of way, I mean.

There's a lot of stuff being talked about on how we'd bite it, I don't know. Space people don't seem to be a very optimistic lot, sir.

[ Optimism is for when you still have something to live for, really. That basement taught him denial, and that rickety staircase taught him hope. "Maybe this time I won't get caught on a loose nail." ]

[if you ask Stilinski, Isaac should have known how to defend himself anyway. he'll never understand a parent that can abuse their own children.]

I think it's just exercising a different kind of caution.

My point still stands. The ship aside, those things can pull in dangerous people just as easily as they can pull in a friend.

[ If that's too cynical for a sixteen year old, chalk it up to unusual home circumstances. Isaac's got enough credit on that front. ]

—I don't mean to sound like I'm resigned to the thing, sir, but it's just... I guess it's a lot easier to deal with being a space kidnapping victim if people aren't always telling you it's gonna end badly any given second.

[Stilinski can't help but lament when he hears a kid talking that way; Isaac was only sixteen, he shouldn't have that cynical of an outlook on the world. it doesn't show in the sheriff's face, instead he just- nods. I can take of myself is what he's hearing. it sounds a lot like another dark haired orphan he knows.]

Just be careful with that knife, got it? I don't want to have to confiscate it.

[he says it with a bemused sort of look, but there's a tone to his voice that makes it clear he's finishing the conversation, and that Isaac can go back to whatever he was doing before a cop and a parent showed up.]

You won't have a reason to, Sheriff, I promise.

[ He's eager and he's also not, to be able to connect with the sheriff of Beacon Hills in a manner outside of an arrest and a kidnapping. Stiles' dad - though he's probably Stiles, too, no one even knows how to pronounce Stiles' first name anyway - seems like a good guy, and even better he seems like a good dad.

Everyone could do with a good dad. Isaac just doesn't know if he's one of those. ]

You're gonna be okay, though, right? I mean, with the ship stuff and... stuff. [ Teen eloquence, at its finest. ]

[he waves a hand, it's a dismissive gesture but it isn't blasé. don't worry about me it says. ~~if only he knew.~~]

I'll be fine. It's only space.

[and he quirks a smile, one that's almost playful, before he hangs up.]
