My name is Mattie Ross. I have discovered that there are quite a number of children here, and many do not seem to have parents or families to see to their proper education. So beginning this week, I am inviting any children who would like to join me to attend religious service on Sunday - Seventh Day - morning before the regular service, and on Third Day evening as well. We will meet in the Oxygen Gardens, and Third Day meeting will be followed by lessons in reading, arithmetic, and common skills. I will teach hymns and psalms to anyone who wishes to learn.

I think we shall tell stories as well.

Please bring books if you have them.

Bran Stark, I hope you will come as we discussed and share your hymns and stories as well.

I've never heard of religious services before. But I like hearing stories, and I could try to share a few of my own.

[ Not having heard of a thing is not usually a surprise to Mattie, considering the disparity between her own place in the world and where she is now. But how does anyone not know what a religious service is? ]

Do you call it by a different name? When you gather together in worship. Though regardless your stories are welcome, especially if you can tell them well.

What would you propose to teach?

[ Not that she feel averse to accepting help, only that she wants to be sure the presence of adults is not just to try and dictate what the children are doing. ]

I think you would be an acceptable teacher, though you are eighteen. [ It's only meant to tease, Mattie is always happy to have Jack around. And she knows he will be good with the children. ]

Any religion you like. We do not have the numbers required for a congregation of only one kind. We will agree not to judge one another, and to enjoy that we are able to meet in fellowship at all.

Which gods are you to worship, Mattie?

I do not believe in any gods other than the Lord God. But I do not think it is my place to practice evangelism here. Our service will allow whatever worship is best for those who come, and I will not tolerate anyone being a nuisance towards others. They may go to some other service if they cannot keep their ill will to themselves.
