i love to tell the story for some have never heard [Video]
My name is Mattie Ross. I have discovered that there are quite a number of children here, and many do not seem to have parents or families to see to their proper education. So beginning this week, I am inviting any children who would like to join me to attend religious service on Sunday - Seventh Day - morning before the regular service, and on Third Day evening as well. We will meet in the Oxygen Gardens, and Third Day meeting will be followed by lessons in reading, arithmetic, and common skills. I will teach hymns and psalms to anyone who wishes to learn.
I think we shall tell stories as well.
Please bring books if you have them.
Bran Stark, I hope you will come as we discussed and share your hymns and stories as well.
[OOC: Children's Chapel is open to all the under 18 crowd. Feel free to handwave attending, and if you want an actual log at any time, give me a shout and I'll happily put one up.]

Are you farmers? We help our neighbors with harvest every year, but that is not the same. What kind of games? [ Community games sounds interesting, like a big Sunday social or something. ]
If you come, I will teach you the Lord's Prayer and the easiest hymns, to begin. And tell you the stories of the Bible, if you like.

[She smiles, nervous about talking too much about the games. People here wouldn't understand them, not really.] The district I come from were miners. The ground wasn't good for farming, most of the time.
The games -
[She frowns now, freezing up.]
They aren't good, or fun. I don't think I should talk about them all that much. [You never know who's watching, after all.]
But I'll come, and I'd like to learn these things. And maybe I can find something to teach you in return.

[ She nods. There are plenty of mine in Arkansas -- silver, zinc, quartz, but mostly coal -- and it doesn't strike Mattie as an unusual occupation for a region to specialize in. ] We raise cotton mostly, on our farm. But there are coal mines too.
You do not have to talk about it. [ Obviously her assumption about these games was inaccurate, and although now she feels eaten up by curiosity, the girl seems genuinely bothered by the idea. ]
I would like to any news things you may feel like teaching. Do you know your letters and numbers?

[She nods in response to the last questions asked of her, smiling a little.]
I went to school at home, most of the year. I know how to write, read, and do some math. And the history of Panem, but I don't think that will matter very much here, not at all. But I could tell it like a story, if you wanted to hear. [She pauses then, becoming more excited about trading knowledge with someone.]
I could also teach you what I know about healing, if you wanted.

You are from Panem? I have made the acquaintance of one or two folks from there myself, though unfortunately it would seem that only Mister Abernathy remains. [ And the way she wrinkles up her nose and sounds deeply disapproving says everything about what she thinks of that. ] I would like to hear your stories, though. I will tell my own if you like, in return.
Please! I have begun as a volunteer assisting in the hospital, but I only know a very few simple things about teas and that, which I learned from my mother. They are not what you would really call healing.

[She didn't know that. She sounds honestly shocked, and a little pleased. She wasn't ever close to the man, but she respected all that he had done for her sister.]
And who was the other? Do you remember?
[She wants so much to address the healing and the stories, but finds herself distracted by talk of home, and the people from Panem that had once been here. She wonders if it's someone she knew, or perhaps someone only Katniss had.]

[ Mattie understands Prim's need to connect with her home. She could wish (often does) that a familiar face might one day show itself for her as well. ]
