[Good afternoonish, Tranquility]

Have we all settled down from the jump? I see we have new people on board. I'm Jane Foster, and I'm an astrophysicist with the Science Division. So apparently the jumps the ship does will also bring new people aboard. Though really the gravity couch experience should be a one time thing.

That brings interesting ideas about how the engine affects time and space and how Einstein, bless his heart, really had no idea, since I don't think E=mc² really stands up to this test, since it was explaining how an object at rest requires infinite energy to achieve the speed of light, and well, we apparently moved quite a ways in a blink of an eye? Though other aspects of relativity could still apply, since they allow for such things as wormholes, which can quite possibly be created.

Would anyone have anything to add to this? It's rather rough, I apologize. Also, do we have any idea of where we are in relation to our last known stop? I'm wondering how far we traveled since Tansei.

Oh! Well then. That would explain why. But, thank you. This really helps. That means there won't be as long until my equipment is replaced and I can figure out what is going on with the engines.

Indeed! So I'm working on those [and a side project for Kasumi] and thought the star maps might prove useful to find out where we are an where we might go.

[Jane takes the opportunity to look at the star maps, her eyebrows drawn together as she studies them. They didn't look like the stars at home or even the stars she saw through the wormhole]

They certainly aren't any I've seen before. But that doesn't mean they aren't useful. Question is now of what part of the universe are they of?

Nor myself! I've got ideas, but the sooner we have some equipment up and routing, the better off we'll be.

[Working to his own ends is really great when it can be disguised as helpfulness!]

If you need anymore assistance, please, let me know. I do know something of star charting, but I'd hardly be called an expert.

[surprisingly, Jane is used to flase modesty in the science field. Man, the egos alone could stifle a room.]

Of course. I'm very close to getting a data collector ready to go. That's the important part. I can get it to talk to the computers here, I think. If not, well, I have help. [she's including you in the help part, and she pokes at the star map.]

Just have to figure out if this star map would be useful or is just a pretty picture.

I hope it's useful. 'd hate to have wasted time and resources. [After all, he's paying Kasumi back with gear! That'd be sad if he did that and got nothing out of it--or so his black, villainous heart says]

Of course. We have limited resources up here, and wasting anything is a bad thing. And we don't know if it is useful until we try to use it.

Indeed! It's a frustrating set up to be certain. But those maps may be helpful-- I should like to have an idea of where we are and where we can go from here. [With or without Resnik and Ward's say so.]

Oh! Well, won't we have to find a pilot or something?

Well, of course-- but some have already revealed themselves over the network! So that shouldn't be hard.

[He moves over the other things and says,] I'll let you get started, though -- I should get back to engineering. [Mostly because he doesn't want to be revealed.] I'll come by to the science labs to start on the Data collector with you later.

Of course, getting them to work together will be a project in itself. I haven't had many people interested in my work, other than my advisers.

[she nods]
