[Good afternoonish, Tranquility]
Have we all settled down from the jump? I see we have new people on board. I'm Jane Foster, and I'm an astrophysicist with the Science Division. So apparently the jumps the ship does will also bring new people aboard. Though really the gravity couch experience should be a one time thing.
That brings interesting ideas about how the engine affects time and space and how Einstein, bless his heart, really had no idea, since I don't think E=mc² really stands up to this test, since it was explaining how an object at rest requires infinite energy to achieve the speed of light, and well, we apparently moved quite a ways in a blink of an eye? Though other aspects of relativity could still apply, since they allow for such things as wormholes, which can quite possibly be created.
Would anyone have anything to add to this? It's rather rough, I apologize. Also, do we have any idea of where we are in relation to our last known stop? I'm wondering how far we traveled since Tansei.

Most large-scale space travel is achieved using Faster Than Light, or FTL, technology. This essentially involves the 'folding' of space, physically reducing the distance between any two points and creating a corridor through space that links them together.
Whether that is how this ship works or not would require a physical examination of the jump drive. Has this been preformed by anyone?
Re: Voice
I take it that you've traveled this way before?

I can't speak to the efficiency of the engine compared to other ships I've been on, however.

The tech's got something of a learning curve for us. Still, even after a month on board.

As for the amount of energy — it'd easily outstrip even the most generous output estimates I could probably come up with, given present technologies back home. And that's only considering an equation of Point A to Point B. The last two jumps have managed to not only move the ship, but everyone in it — from their respective continuums to the ship itself. Even if those individual singularities are small, the introduction of each one has an exponential affect on energy needed. It— [ A scraping noise as he rubs his chin. ] —it's a wonder that system even has that much excess energy to burn in the first place.

slowly, his anger and confusion begin to ebb away. at least for now. jane is a nice distraction from all that and he's alright with it. for now. he must speak with her at once—if only he could figure out how to use this thing.
which, of course, he does get the video turned on by a stroke of luck and he's probably a little too close, but whatever. ]
Jane. [ ...well. he should probably say something else... ... ... ... ] Where are you? [ please don't say inside the machine. ]
